Love Life, Love Boat

Love Life, Love Boat

Hi and welcome to our channel, Love Life, Love Boat. Our boat 'Friday Night' is currently in Norfolk, and our channel takes you on an historical journey, showing the past boats and events, boat maintenance, adventures, discovering unknown and lost waterways as well as discovering new friends.

Although we are currently based on the Broads of Norfolk and Suffolk - sometimes called the Norfolk broads, we often find ourselves coastal cruising and aim to share our adventures with you.

In addition, we have a quirky small camper van - actually a Ford Freda - which is a Mazda Bongo in disguise, so #vanlife is also featured!

Let's mention the #kayak, which at present is a Sevylor Alameda - we have launched a new series call 'Another River' and I am going to be doing some solo adventuring later in 2023 - so watch out for that!

Please remember to like and subscribe, it really does help our channel grow and thank you for joining us!

    I seem to remember the Waverly sailing the North Wales coast line and through the Menai Straits in the sixties. But I could be wrong?

    I believe the Waverley itinerary nowadays takes it all around the UK and Ireland, and Wales also! I am not sure if it would have done in the 60's unless it was going to be used for excursions as it wasn't sold into preservation until 70's I believe, however, I may be wrong! It is always worth looking up the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society - They are on FB and KZread as the @PSPSScottishBranch and are extremely friendly and helpful - and would be really keen to also hear your story! Thank you for watching and commenting and have a peep at their website waverleyexcursions.co.uk/ as they have some great trips available for this year still and I can highly recommend a trip for a good value day out aboard a piece of living history!

    Greetings from Croatia 🙂🍻👍I like this boat. Can you tell me if it is intended only for rivers or can it be sailed on the sea as well? It seems quite comfortable for a family of four? 🙂

  • @lovelifeloveboat
    @lovelifeloveboat15 күн бұрын

    This particular boat was for river and estuary use mainly but would be incredibly cramped for a family of 4, there is a bigger version called a Birchwood Interceptor 25, which are quite reasonably priced , and make great projects. I must admit, on a calm day, I did take it to sea, but only on a completely flat sea! Thank you for watching and commenting!

    @@lovelifeloveboatThank you, I know there is a bigger boat, but I can drive this one on a trailer. 🙂 I can't find documentation from the ship, what is the construction category? Is it designed specifically for rivers and lakes? Or can it go to the sea? It says river boat. Can you tell me the width of the boat inside?

    WOT should see around 3300-3400 on a pair of KAD 32s any faster and the props may be incorrect. Not getting ont the plane could be incorrect props or just a very dirty underside. My problem on this video was very much a fuel / air issue - we have since cruised hundreds of miles thankfully!

    I remember this vessel well when she plied between Hull and New Holland Lincolnshire. With its shallow draft, it was ideal for dodging the ever changing mudflats in the Humber estuary. It was not unknown for the vessel to run aground on a falling tide in which case passengers retired to the bar to kill time until the tide turned and the vessel was afloat again. Watching the reciprocating pistons working to a rythmic sound was magical. Thank goodness she has been saved. 😂❤

    Wells like so many small UK ports has done for itself really. the failure to dredge the waterways and keep them navigable led to the decline in cargo through the port and the knock-on effect of that saw business closures and loss of jobs which of course led to people moving away from the area and the influx of second homes ownership never a good sign as they bring so very little into an area force up accommodation prices reduce transport links and induce a general decline in the populace and once entrenched they apply pressure on the local authority which prevents it from rejuvenating the area. Wells is basically now locked into this vicious circle of decline from which there is no escape with one ray of false hope in the development of a marina complex which while it might sound tempting will put the final seal on the place for good locking out the locals as these places so often do.

  • @lovelifeloveboat
    @lovelifeloveboatАй бұрын

    I tend to agree, although Wells, by road, is literally on my doorstep, and an area which I covered professionally with work, it is literally closed over winter months - and similar to so many Devon and Cornish towns, the key safes are appearing outside more and more homes. The development of the outer harbour was more driven by wind farm operation, however, they have got up and gone. Whilst I absolutely feel the harbour team are outstanding, it cannot be ignored that wells was built upon access to the Sea. Involvement of 'National' organisations could be even worse... The only way that this and any future can be gained - thankfully with the internet and other advances, is to ensure that young people have access to local housing and those buying property are having to use them (not all but a proportion) for primary residencies. Thank you for your very important points and although it, for us, is a picturesque journey, I have tried to reflect some of what you have mentioned.

Also, what are the overnight charges, and does that include free use of the shower block?. We`ll be aboard Lightning for 2 weeks from the August bank holiday weekend, any chance you will be around?. Some really lovely shots of inside Ardea, i`ve often seen her moored at Wroxham and was amazed at her varnished wood finish.

    Hi Gav, did you find out any information regarding Peel Ports and the £20 transit fee to go through Great Yarmouth port area?

  • @lovelifeloveboat
    @lovelifeloveboat4 ай бұрын

    Yes, as it stands, from 1st January, regardless of whether a bridge is lifted or not, the fee is payable by pre-payment - ironically, if it isn't pre-paid the fee doubles to £40 each way - there was always a fee but this was discounted to zero by Peel if Broads Toll was held - it appears that any agreement between the two no longer exists! The tariff is here: www.peelports.com/media/gyep0f4e/great-yarmouth-port-charges-2024-ver-1.pdf

  • @lovelifeloveboat
    @lovelifeloveboat4 ай бұрын

    I think they have always published a 'fee' but it has always been waived - more importantly is that BA have refused to comment on the operation, but there seems to have been alot of animosity between the parties. BA tried to reduce the size of vessels to 21m and were overruled to 24m water line length - this would have meant that BA could drop all pilotage responsibilities - there seems to have be some form of tied agreement between the two parties which may have ended? This isn't a good move by Peel who used to be very good but now see leisure (which they make a point of calling 'pleasure craft') as a hinderance - I pity anyone who enters GY seeking haven as they will be slapped with a massive bill. And as for not having land access to the floating bridge pontoons - that is just plain daft from an emergency services access point of view. Anyway that is my soap boxing for the day all done in one go!

I initially incorrectly called this aircraft 'Little Davey II' but found that the name had been withdrawn from the airframe prior to this accident and it reverted to just being '568.' There is an excellent museum at Debach who are custodians of many of the records of this station and I do dearly hope I can visit in months to come and revisit this story, compassionately, in some greater detail.
