I also liked Before the coffee gets cold. And I cannot wait to get my hands on Sea of Tranquility, it is quite high on my list. I just finished The Empress of Salt and Fortune, which was disappointing for me, and now I'm reading and enjoying Convenience Store Woman, let's see how it goes. Cannot wait for your reading vlog to hear more about your experience of Yellowface and Sea of Tranquility!!

Giovanni's room is on my TBR. The firekeepers daughter was too, but hearing your review, I feel lazy to read it. I really cannot stand inappropriate relationships, especially in YA, since you're basically in the end giving only representations on how to relate to others in the "wrong" way, that's not going to make you feel safe and loved and free and that's not what teenagers need. I'm reading a few books at the same time, but I haven't finished much recently cause I've been reading very chuncky books like Earthsea, which I dnf'd😅 and Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrel, which is quite funny although it can't be compared ro my last year's fave Piranesi, by the same author

In Germany you can’t terminate after 12 weeks?! In the UK it’s 24, and as late as necessary if mothers life is at risk/there are severe birth defects so the baby won’t survive after birth

That's an interesting take on When Breath Becomes Air. I didn't sense that he was enduring the the toxic culture of the system because he glorified his calling but it certainly is something that definitely needs to be addressed in training for those prestigious careers. He does put a lot of stock in aspects of that part of his life, but I'm glad he was able to find some sort of meaning from it.

I also just finished Babel last weekend and I found it awesome. It's one of these books that not only did I enjoy it, but also I think it's a wonder and it's so clear that it took a lot of research and work on top of the story of the characters and I also love the message and I think it's so important. Very exciting hearing you talk about it when it's so fresh in my mind

Hello! Really nice, interesting and enjoyable wrap up! As for your feedback on World War Z, I don't know if that would be exactly my cup of tea, but I certainly can relate to the pandemic related train of thought. A couple of weeks ago I read through "The Plague" (sorry don't know the exact translated title in englis😅) by Albert Camus, in which the protagonist recounts the events that lead to, and that occurred during a plague pandemic in an Algerian town (fictional). Might seem pretty obvious, but it really hit me to find out that, aside from technological development, we are not really different from the past when it comes to basic, human needs. I know, not the most incredible discovery, but still, reading such things coming from someone writing in 1947 is...heavy. Oh, and Babel sounds so great, and right up my alley hahah. Totally wrote that one down in my list, thanks for the recommendation

I found the misunderstandments between the protagonists sooo frustrating, becasue both had good intentions, but were not communicating properly most of the time. I guess that's realistic, so it's not necessarily sth to critizise on the book, but I just don't like feeling so frustrated, cause I feel the should be on better terms, for how much they care about each other. I did enjoyed it, but I was a bit disappointed. Probably because I had very hight expectations after seeing so many people recommending it. But hearing your thoughts, I actually agree with everything. And I love the part of Sadie right after the tragedy happens and how she deals with it. Nice vlog! And nice ASMR at the end haha

Yeah, an other book video! 💚 I really enjoy you talking about the stories and your reading experience :) Do you have any recommendation where to buy english books - especially older ones which aren't published anymore? For a philosophy class we've got the advise to read some fiction by Iris Murdoch. The translations into German aren't very good - in my opinion - or at least from the 50s-70s and the German is kind of unintuitive. So I wanna try to read the originals but I'm kind of lost to find them.

Thanks for the recommendations! I'm particularly intrigued by Beasts of Little Land honestly, just sounds fascinating😊. Oh, and, I reckon you're going to love Die Wand, I read that as part of my german literature course at uni and I devoured it. Truly a gem😍. Currently I am reading Strange Beasts of China by Yan Ge, and so far I can totally recommend it: it's basically about a cryptozoologist recounting stories about the various species of "beasts" that live with humans in this huge metropolis in China. Really, really interesting, and, as of now, entails a lot of metaphorical reading-levels.
