Now I'm even more happy I bought the diner when it came out!
I do prefer this over D56 Black Cat Diner - Great piece
That is too cool!!!
Hoping to have some more around October time 🤞
These are already out in my local store. They put them out too early by accident and the 40% coupon worked. I got the whole run.
Happy days!!! You hit the jackpot there then for sure
I’ve got hemlocks and the graveside diner… I have seen (many years ago) Fright and Fold as well as Destiny Terminal on sale for under $100… very regrettable that I passed on them then. I’ve always wanted the Black Mountain Coal Mine, which is a piece many don’t even know existed, but now goes for over $1000. Also, Doomed Temple is a rare one that goes for thousands, but you never even see it. It’s crazy what has happened to these older pieces prices in recent years. Anyways, great video !
Spooky Town definitely seems to have some forgotten gems and i'll definitely have to dig a little deeper to find out some more about those you've mentioned for part 2. Thank you for the kind words and i'm glad you enjoyed.
Wow! 😮 I’m excited I have a couple of these already 😊
Oooh lucky! Which ones do you have?
@@VideovilleVillagesFright and Fold and Graveside Diner
@chasetaylor0000 That internal scene at the Fright and Fold is brilliant!! Love it!
I've been hoping for a Hemlocks somewhere under $200 some day, but know that is unrealistic. If I came across a Destiny Terminal for half that price I'd go for it. And I almost picked up the Graveyard Scene when it came out, but thought it was a bit pricy for what it was. Guess I missed out there. Great list, thanks.
Never give up hope! Remember these were all near mint condition and one of the good things about ST is that a little damage can easily be passed off as weathering with a touch up hear and there. I've tormented myself with that list as I too really want a Graveyard scene now but it's never going to happen at that price haha, but it does give me inspiration to make my own version of it. That soundtrack reminds me of the Grimsly Manor from D56 - just perfect background, I wish they all had this sort of thing
Nocturnal nuptials- my dream piece
I've got that one in the bone yard.
Very cute piece
Videoville Villages, Yeah, I remember walking into Michaels and picking up the Oct-o-squeeze for around $30 on a sale and it's crazy how much it's gone up in price. But maybe not, as it's one of the favorite pieces I own. I also own Hemlocks and that was another discount Michaels purchase. There are a couple that I've seen that are prohibitively expensive that I don't think I'll ever own. Black Castle is one I actually wanted but I've never seen one under a grand and usually around $2000 most of the time. And then there's Chuckles Funhouse. One I've never see under $2,000 on Ebay and have even seen one north of $4,000. They don't come up often, but this seems the norm now. Surprised at a couple on this list, but Lemax and Department 56 are highly collectible right now (and for some years, of course) and sometimes you get lucky. Have a great one! vgv
$30!! Oh wow what a steal even back then - I love that piece. Chuckles Funhouse and Black Castle has had a quite a few mentions here and on social media - I'll have to get an extra spade to dig deeper to find an example of how much one has sold for ready for part 2. Hope you are keeping well my friend 👍
Videoville Villages, Yeah, those were the good old days. When I first started collecting Lemax, for years, you'd walk into a Michaels store as soon as they put the Lemax collection out and everything was automatically discounted at 60% off, no coupons necessary. Then as the season neared it's end, everything left over was 80% off. Nowadays you have to jump through so many hoops to find the best deals and companies continue to throw the consumer rotten curves. Case in point. Last week Michaels finally put up a preview of all their Lemax Halloween pieces on their site. Two of the pieces, the Phantom Castle (which thankfully I picked up instead from a 3rd party for much cheaper), and one of their exclusives that I want, the Smoke and Mirrors Magic Shop (which I think is going to be one of those rare sought after pieces in the future, because of it's amazing bevy of illusions with an all new AMAZING special effect), are both $200 a piece! Seriously?! These have to be the MOST EXPENSIVE MSRP prices to date! And here's where the curve comes in. So Michaels puts up all these new products, which you can't buy until the 28th of this month, but gave some great hope in the form of a coupon. Below each of the products they listed a 40% off coupon code! That's a pretty decent deal in today's climate! But like I said, here's the curve. I get on their site this morning and they change the coupon code to a 20% off code! WHAT?! Luckily I saved the 40% off code and decided to see if it still worked. I put something in my cart, other than the Lemax stuff of course, because they don't allow you to buy them until June 28th, and tried the 40% off code. SURPRISE, SURPRISE, the code no longer works! What a cruddy thing to do at the last minute, but they've done this type of thing before. Suffice it to say, out of the 7 items I was going to pick up on June 28th from Michaels, I'm now only going to pick up 3. But there is a light. What I did last year when Michaels pulled this same stunt, was to buy everything with the smaller coupon code, because Lemax items seem to sell out fast nowadays, and then hold onto them. Then when a better coupon comes out, I'll return the pieces that are still available at Michaels for a refund and reorder them using the better coupon. I hate that companies pull these slimy tactics and consumers have to play games to get the best deal, but that's where we're at unfortunately. Playing games stinks. I need to make a quick correction from my last comment. I thought I had the Hemlocks Lemax piece, but I actually have Grimsly's Greenhouse. It's very similar to Hemlocks, but I vaguely remember skipping out on Hemlocks, because of the similarities. I actually like Grimsly's Greenhouse better :) Hope you're keeping well as well and here's to a great Halloween and Christmas Villaging season! vgv
I did read that Michaels code coupon fiasco online the day. It does make you feel like you are being played a bit at times when someone offers you a price and then halves it a few months later. It's not too dissimilar in the UK - prices can fluctuate wildly between retailers and if you can hold your nerve for sale prices nearer the holiday, you can get some fantastic savings, but you have to be on it, checking 10 or 12 retailers daily, if not twice a day. Sadly we don't have anyone like gift spice offering us huge free buildings tho for orders over a certain amount
Black castle , there is nothing more to say
I couldn't find a sale to validate this one either Lars - Do you know how much it normally sells for? I'll be sure to keep an eye open for it 👍
I sah jet 3 sale 2 complettly brocken ones for around 500 euro and 1 complettly working one tjat was Sold for 3300 Dollar oO and that was only house . So you can see the real price is even higher , taxes , Transport not included and if i think about me as european with Import taxes and so one this want would Costa me around 5000 Euro xD . Short they so rare that you can ask and get what ever you want or at least close to that.
Oh wow!!! That's big BIG money!
Chuckles funhouse goes for over a thousand, usually closer to $2,000…
So I hear, I've seen one recently on eBay for similar money, but I couldn't verify a sale for it at the time of making the video, so who knows, it may well feature in part 2? But thank you for bringing it to my attention Greg 👍
I'm glad there is a new voice with new ideas for content in the Lemax space. Great idea for a video!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed
Last September I went from feeling indifferent to Halloween villages to being really hooked on them. That piece was my favourite.
I understand what you mean... I think. Is it the realism you like about this house? Eventually I would like my Halloween village to be a mixture of 70's, 80's and 90's horror movies, with a dash of Stranger things, but there isn't too many Spooky Town pieces I can throw in to that mix, but then I see things like the Gloom Room and The Garden of Eaten, and I love all the colours and the OTT theming and I'd like to do a whole separate "Spooky Town" as well, but that's not going to wash with the wife lol.
@VideovilleVillages what I like about this piece is that it combines some part of real life with borderline spookiness. Some questions arise when you look at it. Is it haunted? Is it just an old inhabited house where there might be some crime taking place? Is it just a hallucination of the viewer? Generally, I am trying to create a borderline spooky town, meaning that nobody could answer for sure whether the town is haunted or it is just an "ordinary" town where the inhabitants are not conforming to the standards of inhabitants we are used to. I also like to incorporate some humorous and optimistic elements, especially those that defy the physical laws of life and happiness. For example, adding dancing skeletons in a graveyard.
Ooh I like it. I think those that are more provocative are generally more interesting - i like to not see everything the first time i look at something
I love your graphics! Unfortunate that your piece had some broken parts, some postal carrier must have tossed it a bit too far. Did you see the latest Spooky Town items are experimenting with pressed-formed cardboard packing instead of foam? We'll see how that goes. I think the animation on this piece is a mixed bag. The swinging crane-yes! The lazy guy barely dumping his wheelbarrow? Naw, doesn't work for me.
Thank you and yes I have seen a few videos of the new packaging but not in person yet, presumably a much more eco friendly alternative to the eps polystyrene they used before. I've never received an item that had the packaging damaged, so that solution was certainly durable enough, fingers crossed this new type is better on all counts 🤞
Nice review. I could really see the building.
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it
I also like the innovation used on the magic shop. I would leave off the flying doves (aw, so cute), and if I couldn't replace the bunny with something else like I did the stupid Christmas bulb on Dr. Gory's Lab, I'd at least cover the bunny in blood and have it dripping off the fangs. Otherwise a top-notch building!
That one blew me away to be honest, really cool. Giving the bunny a makeover is a great shout!
Very nice review. I got this last year to go with my other haunted houses, and at first wasn't a fan of the kid's toys in front until a friend pointed out maybe the kids didn't get out of the house. That was just morbid enough for me to embrace it. I'll sub to see more of your reviews.
Thank you, I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I'd have liked the scooter and ball to have been a little more weathered perhaps? But like your friend said, it does pose a question to whom they belong to doesn't it? I prefer pieces that allow a bit of interpretation or those that you need to look at numerous times before you see everything. Do you have the Lemax Gothic Haunted Mansion? I was wondering if the lighting is as good in person as it is on video?
@@VideovilleVillages I do, and it's unusual. The static lighting is quite subdued, mostly internal except for the flames/torches out front. But the lightning it rather startling, it's very bright. So I'd say the lighting is good in person, but photos of it make the building look somewhat bleak with just the internal lighting. I have a video on my channel from last Halloween where you can see it.
I'll check that out tomorrow then, thanks. I definitely want to add a few haunted houses to my village this year if I can find them for the right price, and that one caught my eye the other day
@@VideovilleVillages Some places here in the states are selling 13 Gastly Lane for discount right now. New, with the foam but no outer box. I picked up Crowley Hall for a discount like that last year.
That's really good. It's kind of slim pickings for Halloween villages in the UK. Very few available on eBay etc this side of the pond and eBay's international shipping price is often double the price of the buildings sadly. A few Garden Centers stock the newer products, but getting retired pieces is hard work sadly
Well done dad ❤❤❤❤
Bless ya, cheers son ❤️
That was amazing
Thank you Connor ❤️
Good review - well done. Picked this up last year and enjoy it.
Thank you Michael. Such a great piece isn't it?
Wow, you are very talented.
Thank you! 😊
Your AI thumbnail is tacky and cheap; that’s all I want to say
I'm not happy with it either, but i haven't changed it as a reminder to better next time
@@VideovilleVillages glad to hear that. I don’t mean to be rude but I can’t stand AI
The cinema has a nice design
Agreed! Easier to theme than the Mortis Theatre and has a lot of nice details to it
You should do a Betting Shop one, since The UK is full of it ;-)
😂😂😂 very true. I do plan on making a lot more lost stores from the 80's and 90's because if i did it them on todays high street there would be nothing but bookies and takeaways sadly
Glad I live in Spain!
Great video thank you. Do you have any idea when the crossing will be back in stock?
Very soon Shane, just replenishing the stock, so should be by the end of the week 👍
SOLD OUT in under 9 hours - Thank you so much 🙏❤️
Where did you get the electronic sign and movie theatre screens?
Hi, The electronic sign was from eBay and i mounted it on top of a base for a Lemax Hot Air Balloon. The theatre screens I got from China and adapted them to be able to make the cinema
Hi, I would like to buy a Lemax tram, could you kindly tell me which are the right Lemax tracks to create a wider route, within the village? I also saw that you have the 4-way section for sale on etsy, but unfortunately it cannot be shipped to Italy. Thank you
Hi @fallenangel4291 - At present, there are only the curves and straights that Lemax manufacture and there is no choice in the radius of these bends. The way I was able to get my trolley go go around the edge of my village was to cut the corners with a saw at the angle i needed and then add a straight and repeat the process. I have added a host of delivery options now so that the crossing is available in Canada, Australia and all of Europe too. Thanks again for watching and I look forward to getting your order for the crossing section very soon.
Hi, thanks for replying. I have another question. Are the tracks of the Jolly Trolley (including the transversal piece that you sell) the same as those supplied with the old Lemax Santa's Cable Car 54960 tram?
No problem 👍. All Lemax track pieces be it their trains or any version of the trolley, are the same track type. The Cross section i produced has only been tested on the trolley as I do not have a lemax train, so i can not vouch that it would work for a train, but as you can see, it works no problem for the trolley 🚎.
Santa's Cable Car was the previous tram produced by Lemax (now no longer on the market), later replaced by the Jolly Trolley. Your information is truly enlightening. Thank you so much 😊
Pretty clever!
Thank you Judy - i'm looking forward to doing a more playful version for Halloween
There is a different ice skating piece on the Lemax website - Secret Snowman Ball. It features snow folk and animals. It's a new table accent in the Vail Village category. I much prefer it to the Michaels Exclusive, and am hoping that I'll be able to find it at some different retailer.
I was trying to find that during the video but expected it to be in the Santas Wonderland given it's nature - Vail seems an odd choice 🤷. I would assume the name is incorrect rather than calling two new pieces the same thing and i do like it, just when i saw the name, i was worried the Snowman version had been withdrawn. That one reminds me of the Snowman North Pole party scene, have you seen it? I've put the link below 👍 kzread.info/dash/bejne/Za2psrmPj6XPmaQ.htmlsi=wq3K2AVgox1wJzlY
@@VideovilleVillages Yes... it's odd that the two items have the same name. I just really hope I'll be able to pick up the non-Michaels Exclusive piece somewhere. I suppose, because it is 'secret' it's OK to put it in Vail? And, yes! I have seen that short animated film. It does seem to fit perfectly with this item.
Love the Magic Shop too, I'm like you I don't need the rotating things on top. I do like the popup bunny though :)
Ha ha, I can live with the bunny if it means we get all the other cool things lol
The ghost in the magic shop is done by a "peppers ghost effect", behind the face that follows you is a hidden room with two figures in it, when they light up a reflection is made by an angled peice of glass (see through plastic in this case). This effect is commonly used on disney rides like the haunted mansion and tower of terror It is deffenatly in my opinion one of the best lemax building evermade, and i think the theme of a magic shop is a very underated when it comes to horror
I whole heartedly agree with you - kudos to the design team on this one because they pulled all the stops out! Has there been a piece before that has had as much inventiveness?
@@VideovilleVillages not that I can think of, most pieces rely on the moving parts or the sound, but this one you could take away all the movements and it would still be impressive
How did they do the face
Videoville Villages, Lemax continues to knock it out of the park this year! Going to pick up both Michael's Halloween and Christmas Facades, just fantastic! I agree with you on the new Theater. I think all the great animation was put into into the Smoke and Mirrors Magic shop, which uses some ideas from the most expensive Chuckles Funhouse, namely the mirrors. The ghost effect in the center is spectacular, and believe it or not, is just done with a light and a mirror. And the face that seems to start off sunken and then pop out is a classic illusion, one sunken piece crafted in such a way to make it perform that way. I remember seeing the effect on some decorative pieces affixed to slot machines in Las Vegas. I'm going to be so broke this year. I'm already in over $500 and that doesn't include these Michaels pieces. And I wouldn't be surprised if Michael's marks up the Smoke and Mirrors piece to $180. Keeping my eye out for coupons :) After being underwhelmed by last years offerings, I'm glad Lemax is finally back! vgv
Hi vgv, I've seen how you can create a hologram in a similar way and you're absolutely right, they've knocked it out of the park this year with ST. We are all waiting with wincing wallets at this point lol. Fingers xd on those coupons 🤞😂
can one of these be delivered to Spain please
Absolutely - I'll check the postage costs and update on Etsy 👍
Videoville Villages, Just subscribed! Can't wait to get several of the new pieces this year. I preordered the Phantom Castle, finally a Roller-coaster! I did buy Dungeon of Terror last year, but returned it. It just didn't speak to me, but it did review well. My first Lemax piece was the Mortis Theater, low so many years ago, a gift from my Mom. Ever since then, I've been a big collector, and this year, I hope to have my biggest display yet :) If your interested, I have couple village videos on my channel, one for Halloween and one for Christmas. I integrated those themes into my Home Arcade, so I have villages year round :) My fingers are crossed for that new mysteriously removed Movie Theater, I think I saw the Blob in the front. Glad I happened upon your channel! Cheers! vgv
Thank you for the lovely message and 💯 i'll be checking your villages out. Think it's going to be a good year for Spooky Town and yes, the Phantoms Castle looks incredible - can't wait!!
@@VideovilleVillages Thanks for wanting to check out my village videos! I hope you like them :) I also enjoyed your 2024 Lemax Christmas sneak peek. I preordered the Cake Factory. The house of shadows was also released in 2023
Hi Giannis. I did say that it was one I purchased last year, but it was so strong that it will be amongst the bestsellers again this year. Thanks for watching 👍👍👍
@VideovilleVillages I am sorry, I was watching it on mute. Yes I agree the house of shadows was an excellent piece. I got it last year and I love it.
@@giannis6552 haha no worries. I hope they bring a lot more haunted houses out in the coming years - this has such a creepy presence
I’m so happy I got it last year from Michael’s.
Thank u for posting this video. I’ll take Xmas at grandmas, the Christmas cake factory, and the last one the rocky river mill. I put 20 $ away a week till michaels gets them in. Then the waiting game starts, at Michael’s the prices drop. This yr miss milleys muffins we’re going for like 150. I got it for 70. But when they are gone they are gone. If it’s a must have like the North Pole mailroom I’ll wait till it drops 30% then get it
