I don’t know how you can say that, Chris is completely his own player, you couldn’t name one other that sounds like him. Eli is fucking great but it’s not as personal. Chris just sounds so perfect it’s kind of weird so I get what you mean but I think he’s so much his own player.

This is pretty much the lineage of Coltrane, and Michael Brecker's playing. I guess those guys sucked too then right? Lol I'm sure those two could play in any style they want, it's just not their own.

So relatable man! I feel like there are levels to playing a standard, where certain virtuoso sin in it: 1.making love to the tune 2. Defiling the tune. 3. Raping the tune. 4. Murdering and raping the tune. All via your solo. You can hear it here too, when they “overdo it” it’s a common thing. “To get to an orgasm no matter what”. Well, if it involves killing and raping, then something is wrong for sure 😂

Selmer doesn't make the best instrument. just hyped. . This Grassi sax sounds clearer and cleaner and Grainy. Chris Potter Selmer is just rumbling. Nasal and unclear.
