What if the second wire in my wall doesn't have a red wire? I have 2 Romex cables, one main power and one extra for controlling the light on my old unit. None of my cables have a red wire. Just black, white and ground.
Thank you for your question regarding the 162. This unit would require two hot wires (one for the fan and one for the light bulb), your white or neutral wires, and a ground. The house wire colors may vary. Connect one black to the blue and the other black to red to run the fan and light separately. Connects all the white together and green to ground or bare wire. my unit only blows cold air so does that mean only the heating element is broken?
Good Morning, Yes, if the unit is blowing cold air, you would only need to replace the heating element. If you have the 765H110L, the replacement element is part number S97020888. If you have a different model, please call our Product Support Team at 800-637-1453 for parts assistance.

Thanks that helped. Ordered a new blower wheel for my QT140E-B. Any hints on installing that on the motor? Had to cut the last one off. It had separated at the bottom and was making a racket.

If your hood offers this, please press and hold the filter clean reminder light to reset the timer. How about telling us how to remove the plastic fan blade for a good washing?
Good Morning, Thank you for commenting. We do not recommend removing the fan blade on our units. We simply suggest taking the dusting attachment for the vacuum and knocking off the excess or, if you prefer, using a dry wash cloth to wipe the dust off of the motor and fan blade.

As for the wiring if you have a dual switch you can use a multimeter to check continuity with the leads. Use leads to touch each wire with plug to determine which black wire is fan and which one is for the light. (Lead goes in the plug) and use a 2 connector wago or wire nut to connect each broan black wire to black/ red wire on your 12/3 or 14/3.
The replacement light costs more than the whole fixture with fan and all. I will just replace with a different brand.

I Have noticed a Significant drop in Air Suction from Exhaust and Decrease in Supply Air when I "Tee" in to more than One Area. The 6in Ducts drastically drops the air movement after I "Tee" Off into Any Location. How do You Overcome this?

I came here b/c the hood light started flickering....it's a NuTone model (probably very old), but I don't see any filter! I just see a fan under the hood. I rent an apartment, and who knows, someone might've taken the filter off and never replaced it?

Wonder if this worth it if you have a half bath with no heat ? In my new house I was shocked to find now heat in my half bath and it felt cold in winter not sure if I should go with this or a regular 80cfm

Does the heater turn off automatically or will it stay on until you turn it off?
Thank you for your question. How the heat feature functions will depend on the control used. We typically recommend a 3 function control so each feature can operate independently. This would require you to turn the heater off when you are finished with it. You could wire the heat separately to a timer switch. This would turn the heat off after the selected time period. Why didn't You show how to go back out from that set up menu... ???? After going in that Menu To Set the Desired Independent AirFlow Values. How do You get back out of that Menu? I Found Myself Stuck In there. I Can't get back out of that Menu, It just keeps Circling Me Round and Round through MIN, MED & MAX Options. There's no way to get back out to the Main menu or do any thing else, No matter what I do or press. What's going on???

I just bought and installed 3 of these and I'm seeing a failure in design that should really be taken back to the drawing board. My 3 bathrooms' fans are on the same circuit. How can I get the remotes/switches to connect to the exact fan it should? They keep pairing to the wrong one through my walls. How is there no manual pairing button directly on the unit?

I’m dealing with the spring issue as well I’m extremely handy and this thing has me beat. They are sending me out new springs. The instructions are horrible. The diagram shows the spring going under the plastic housing. The last step should have been simple but it has proven to be a real pain. I’m not confident that the new springs will work. I guess the good news is now I have. Phone contact number.

This was very helpful since I am installing this new range hood. The only thing is that it does not come with an installed power plug but just going to use the one from my old range hood. Now I am going back to Home Depot to pick up a roll of installation duck tape.
So a plate with a 6-1/4x10 inch opening can be fabricated/fitted to ductwork. Good to see the BOTTOM of the model 634 so clearly. Thanks for taking the time to produce this.

I had problems getting both screw gussets to seat. The interface between blower exhaust and the duct fitting doesn’t seem to engage properly. It would be helpful if the installation demo went into a bit more detail about how the plastic housing clips into the metal housing, and shared some “this can be frustrating…pay close attention engaging x and y mating faces…”.

The Nutone 765H80L heat , fan , lights must be connected on a 20 amp circuit

I just purchased the 634 to use for a new 8" round range hood exhaust duct installation. I can't seem to find any information making a good connection to the hood. The installation instructions show nothing. I'd like to make a good seal to the hood. What am I missing? Thanks

Probably going to need to make a plate with a hole and/or flange attached and glue/pop-rivet it to the bottom of the hood for a good seal/airflow.
@@normbal The hood doesn’t have anything to attach to. It’s just a big opening. I found a flanged take off that I can put in through the top of the roof to act as a sleeve and connector to the 8” duct. Then I can install the hood over that. Under the shingles of course. I was concerned that the plywood would be exposed to the moist exhaust air eventually causing rot. I spoke with tech support at Broan and they said just stick the duct through the roof or make a flange on the inside. To me that’s not a very good solution. The flanged take off will work perfectly. I actually came across it at Lowe’s. And it was the last one on the shelf! Lucky me.
