Hi Spencer, highly appreciated that you talked a lot more about video than about photo unlike almost all other reviewers! Nevertheless do I think that you undererstimate the problem with overheating in 120P 4K. The overheating problem starts with switching on, not just with with recording. This will most likely be even more true if the pre-recording feature is used. Wildlife people like me sometimes have to wait the 22 or 26 minutes or more just until the desired action takes place. Switching on when the actions starts is no best practice. So the camera stays on in pre-recording mode, doesn't yet produce a video (waiting for the action...) and starts to overheat. Switching off after 22 or whattheever minutes due to overheating is a deal-breaker for the desired action. That's what's not really attracting me in terms of this R5 upgrade. Also the cooling grip might produce a permanent sound that animals will definitely be able to detect, so that might also be not really feasible. Animals can also hear the (or humans) silent AF motors. I am interested in your opinion of this aspect. KR Ralf

Hi KR, Very cool that you are doing that kind of video work! It seems like you have assessed it pretty thoroughly, my only thought was using an external recorder… but it doesn’t support 120p output. A larger cine-style camera will allow for unlimited 4K 120p, but might be louder and most certainly will be bulkier. Not ideal, but probably the better of the two options, although the R5 fan attachment might not be too bad

Yes. HDMI degrades after approx. 50 feet. Best option is probably to run HDMI>SDI from computer, then put an SDI>HDMI box at every TV. They run on USB power now, so you can just stick the box behind the TV at each location and use the SDI passthrough to continue your daisy chain.

First! By the way, the recording limit doesnt mean it will overheat after 15 minutes. I think this might be misunderstood by viewers if not explained correctly. You can still record after, and most users notice the heat after an hour. It will improve if you are in a temp controlled environment. Another thing is this is meant for quick point and shoot situations but with full frame quality. Most users will shoot short bursts rather than record a full dinner or timelapse.
