Welcome Hobbyists!!!!! As someone who has been collecting trading cards since I was in the 3rd grade, I am big on the hobby and how it has evolved into what it is today. This channel is dedicated to the love of the hobby, and the thrill of the rip.
I will be doing rips and breaks of football, basketball, baseball, Pokemon, and random other trading cards, while sipping on some of my private stock of top shelf scotch, and discussing trending sports topics. Great video man! I’m going to submit my first TaG sub soon too. The inconsistency and lack of transparency with the other companies is just not ok anymore. For 15$ a card and full transparency, plus dope looking slabs…. I’m down

It seems like everyone can pull a White Hot Rookie Wemby except me. Right up there with the base Prizm card. Safe travels!

SGC and PSA are owned by the same company. It will be interesting to see if SGC will follow suit with PSA's longer wait time, and upcharges and raised grading prices too.
True! I hope they operate independently so that SGC can maintain the uniqueness that made it what it is today. However, that may be highly unlikely.

Nice I’m boxing brother and I just bought a mega box of these to put away and keep because I just started getting into collecting unopened boxes so if you have any unopened boxes you want to get rid of let me know. I have some graded cards maybe we can do some trading.
The wonderful art of trading seems to become more and more extinct by the day. I do have a few boxes and I am sure we can make something happen!
sheesh there slabs are the cleanest slabs out there with there technology dnt no why people stay on psa from a collectors stand point i would rather have a slab from tag than any other company the value I think psa still holds more until thesse people get that psa tramp stamp off there backs and moves on from psa I think tag is the future psa not trying to move this hobby forward tag is with there premium plastic way to go tag love it
Cleanest by FAR! I cannot stress enough how I am all about the look of the slab and the transparency of the grading. They are next level by far!

I believe this is the future of grading. Grade transparency is what all collectors want to see when having their cards graded.... and the look is 2nd to none!

Thanks for the rip! You caught a great price on that box. That box was too dusty. Sheesh! Boxes like that make me go buy some undervalued baseball or unlicensed product. Most of the time I'm at least breaking even on the rip. Good luck on your grading submissions!

Thanks for the rip! I pulled a Jahmyr Gibbs Downtown out of my 2nd box of 2023 Optic Football, and I haven't been able to acquire another blaster at MSRP again. Panini has been passing out Sean Clifford, Chad Ryland, and Tyjae Spears cards like Nino Brown was passing out Thanksgiving turkeys. Good luck in your Downtown hunt!

I've ripped easy 1000 different optic boxes over time, various years. I've pulled 1 DT and it was a Purdy DT RC. Bottom left corner was crunched. That's it. 1. I started to believe they didn't actually exist and all the videos were part of some conspiracy to make me believe they were real. It's validating to pull one finally. Think I'll skip this yr as these have been absolutely brutal

Congrats! After watching several videos, Charles Barkley is a good sign for a Wemby box. I saw one video where a pulled 4 Wembys out of 1 mega box and half were either silver prizm or cracked ice. I've ripped several megas and never caught a base Wemby. Looking forward to more videos!

Thanks for the rip! I'm here for the Pacers shade. 🤣🤣 It is crazy that you were able to find those Target mega boxes out in the wild. Those are considered the most juiced Select boxes. Your 2nd box was pretty darn good. I believe the Select Lodestar cards are considered short prints. I waited too late and had to deal with Walmart in BestBuy megas. I didn't get a Wemby but I did get a gold Courtside card /10.
Hahaha! Well aside from the Pacers shenanigans, I have to say that I was genuinely impressed with Select NBA this year….. and finding them sitting on the shelf in Target was that much sweeter!

Thanks for the mega rip! I have not ripped this year's product, but I've seen some monster pulls. I will definitely pick up some mega boxes of this and the chrome version. Last year megas yielded some nice pulls for me. I wish you onward and upward with this channel.

Thanks for the video! Those cards had a lot gunk on them. I've noticed that more and more with Topps Chrome cards either have dirt on them or are damaged. I know Panini uses some of Fanatics printing presses and the QC would explain that. Sorry to see that you got a lot of the same coalition of cards.
Thanks for watching! The card quality was pretty great, but you made a good point. There was a lot of gunk on the cards and getting the same cards over and over again is the quickest way to drive me away from a product!
You have a good eye to spot out defects. My experience gradeing so far s.g c has showed me the most love with 10s. Sucks seeing all those 9s and lowers

Do u know how the 1000 point scale converts to the 10 point scale? What gets "rounded" to what? A 948 doesn't get rounded to a 9.5? Why? Does TAG also not do 9.5's? Do half point grades have to traverse the '50 mark? Meaning, a 849 gets an 8 but an 850 gets an 8.5? If so, i find that pretty fucking nitpicky; just round an 849 to an 8.5! And, does an 876 get rounded to a 9? I see that a 875 gets rounded to an 8.5.
Good point on the rounding in relation to the 1000 point scale. I definitely need to look into that to see how it translates. Another thing that caught my attention is the new service that moves away from the 1000 point scale and adheres to the 1-10 grading scale. They still have the 1000 point scale but it is more expensive now. I think the 1000 point scale was an industry identifier that separated them from the competitors.
If u resend to TAG it would fascinating to see what happens if u cracked one of these TAG cards and resubmit them to TAG (both a numbered and non-numbered card.)
I think there was a video out where someone tried it. They cracked it, resubmitted it, and it got the exact same score! I have to go back and find the vid.
Why is the rookie Lebron back centering a 991? That ain't perfect centering. Hmmmmm....
I appreciate the vid, man! Super interresting stuff. A few observations: why is the Keegan Murray a 5.5? The corners on both sides, the edges on both sides and the centering on both sides and the back surface was all nearly perfect, which makes up 7 of the 8 graded categories. The other grade category, the front surface graded a 529: so why does this one category seemingly trump all the other ones? That single category represents what the grade is. Can u, or anyone else who knows explain this? Secondly, do u know if they grade the fronts more importantly like how PSA does? Overall, it does seem that TAG is onto something big, and that we all should be using them. They do seem more precise which should lead to more accurate and consistent grades. The big concern is if it's "too good" and, thus way more strict and stingy in giving out 10's. The weird, wild, arbitrary world of grading will be fascinating to follow over the upcoming years, indeed...
Thanks! Good question, the Keegan Murray had some gunk on the surface of the card. You really can't see it that well on the video, but It was something like splotches all over it (and it was like that fresh out the pack)! I just sent it in to see how TAG would respond.
Thanks for the video! Sorry got bad blaster boxes. I only bought to blaster boxes from Target and I ripped a Jahmyr Gibbs Downtown and a silver prizm Brock Purdy out of the same blaster. I've seen some nice Optic cards pulled. I think Panini juiced them a bit. You'll probably have to wait until the megas are released to get any Optic now at MSRP.

That trimmed Shawn Kemp might get a 10 from GEM or BCCG. 🤣 I was starting to think TAG was an automatic grade bump from the major graders, but the last two crossovers made me feel better.
That Shawn Kemp hurt my heart! Pulled that from a fresh pack, cracked it from PSA, and TAG was like take this mess back!!! Still pleased overall with the experience!

I like the look of the SGC case for sure. Wish they sold as well as the PSA graded cards. For a PC I guess that doesn’t matter. I like that TAG tells you exactly what is going on w the card. Hopefully they will gain more traction.
Agreed…. These are quality options alongside PSA that just need to gain traction, and I’m here for the long haul!

TAG could really shake up the grading market. I think many people are tired of the inconsistencies. Watching this video I already love the numbered score given with the grade plus the data to compare against others of the same card.
Totally agree. Inconsistencies and lack of transparency are what's driving hobbyist to want something more. TAG may be the answer!
