I was 16 when this game was played and watched live on TV on the Farm in North Otago. I love the Welsh except when they play the All Blacks! Syd Going died recently as did Bruce Robertson and JPR. Magic players thanks to you all

First time I've watched this game in colour, great game, great players from past times, sadly here in New Zealand, last week we sadly, Sid Going from North Auckland passed away aged 80 years old. R.I.L. Sidney Milton Going.

They say the modern game is faster and the players much fitter. But the fluidity of this game was unbelievable there was never a break in the play. No water or sports drinks, playing on a ploughed up field heavy woolen shirts. Would love to see this in hi def and colour it would be an amazing spectacle of rugby football.

So very different from today’s professional game. Can’t make my mind up which is the better sport. The amateur game was not about money & technical perfection. It had nothing to do with corporate sponsorship. Yet the excellence & speed of the professional game is more attractive to watch.

In the buildup to this international, England beat Fiji by only one point and lost all three matches against New Zealand provincial teams but completed the tour with their first win against New Zealand since 1936. They had a number of all-time greats and were a far better side than their results against provincial opposition indicated. This tour was arranged after a scheduled visit to Argentina was cancelled because of terrorist threats against the players. Beat Fiji 13-12, lost to Taranaki 3-6, lost to Wellington 16-25, lost to Canterbury 12-19, beat NZ 16-10.

The All Blacks Selectors, Team Manager and Coach must of had bricks for brains, Going into a major test series without a front line Goal Kicker, make shift Fullback, a winger with a serious knee injury and leaving back in NZ two top line tight fowards, I'm one kiwi that won't blame the ref's for this series loss, but the whole management set up of this All Blacks team.
