Interesting how nearly ten hours earlier the crowd heard a totally different take on the song during the Jefferson Airplane's set. Their version was darker and apocalyptic. CSNY's version is much more jazz flavored. Still, both versions are classics.

Lovely. I remember the day I walked into HMV Records in Oxford Street about '73, and found the triple album of Woodstock with that marvellous picture when you open the two folds (half a million people sitting happily in mud :). Heard these sounds for the first time then and discovered so much more superb music from that great event. Movie still well worth watching too.

Agree with everything everybody said nostalgic , brilliant music great times , was just a teenager when Woodstock played, listen how music had changed from early rock and roll, so many influences, where did all this brilliance come from, ok sound and recording techniques have got better in modern times but not the music

That might have been due to the fact that it was probably taken from the Original Soundtrack album. On that LP when the song starts to fade out it leads right into "See Me, Feel Me" by the Who.

Some group... ? This is Crosby Stills Nash and Young, at the very height of their powers. Saw them at the Albert Hall around 2011 and they still have it. BTW If you fancy some more stunning guitar from Woodstock look out Ten Years After playing "I'm Goin Home". Startling.

we who were young in the 60's and early 70's didnt realize how lucky we were to grow up listening to this music. Not sure what happened around 74 or so, but the bottom fell out-maybe Nixon had to be President for great music to happen?-I'm just sayin....
