Hi, my name is Santanu Rahman. I'm the owner and head instructor for Austin Kung-Fu Academy. I've been doing martial arts since 1986, when I was 14 years old. So, if you do the math, I've been at this for awhile and an old guy, haha!

But, I don't feel old! I love learning new things. I love practicing and developing new insights and skills. And, I LOVE to teach. I love to share my knowledge.

My primary style is Choy Lay Fut Kung-Fu. I also do some Yang Family Tai Chi, 7 Star Praying Mantis, Aikido, and Gracie Jiu Jitsu.

I've been a fan of and have studied Bruce Lee since I was 15 years old. So, growing up with that, I am somewhat of a fiercely independent person. While I give homage and credit to my teachers, I am ultimately my own master, and I express martial arts in my own unique way.

I hope you like some of my Rope Dart and Chopstick Throwing videos - they've been a lot of fun to do! More to come!

Hey if you don't mind, "I want to talk about books" too, especially MY NEW ONE! It's titled Myths and blind spots in the fighting arts’ world. - After the Bible, it’s the next gοοd bοοk for you! A sneak peek: I expose money making businesses that offer no real self-defense, instructors that care only about their tradition and not about students being safe, I elaborate on ridiculous competitions that martial artists partake in, I show that God in the Bible is not against violence and self-defense training as many strangely think, I show why most drills and sparring are constructed in a wrong way and solve that problem, I bring to light bad repetition training in systems that go undetected, I talk about understanding the brain and its physics, about urgency and intention and the element of surprise and escape, I expose Wing Chun concepts in detail, but also give sound solutions and directions much needed for a martial art revival and much more. Packed it all up in about 250 pages. I will add that it's for disciplined readers and all that will stick around till the end will not regret it. If you read it and enjoy it (I know you definitely will, even though in some places you will be challenged), please give it a good review in all honesty of course! Thank you for your time. God bless you more!

Thank you so much I've been searching my mind for years, I learned this set a long time ago but I Let it go for too long Let It Go for too long and I could not remember the sequence. I'm so lucky to have come across your video and thank you for teaching it in depth.

That technique is referred to as "guilo rides donkey" and it's considered one of the harder traditional techniques to get down. One thing I'd recommend is keeping your leg bent and intersecting the plane of the dart with your heel. Pay attention to how it wraps and only kick back once the weight shifts.

Indeed. Often our attachments are based on a desire to control others, when in fact, being on the path and succeeding in our journey requires that we master ourselves.

Love you and keep up the nice content :)

Do you have the instructional videos to upload? I also trained in Choy Lay Fut when I was a young man. In fact, my Sigung was Lee Kwoon Hung, so Mr. Tat Mau Wong would be my "Kung Fu uncle" (my teacher was his Sihing). Unfortunately, my sifu has stopped teaching now, and having not trained for almost 2 decades, I forgot a lot of it. Mr Wong's videos seem to be the only authentic Hung Sing CLF videos I can find.

  • @anthonyanthony284

@Austin Kung Fu Academy No, my teacher was Sifu Pang Ko Chiu. I am in Hong Kong. He was one of the ones left behind when SiGung went to USA. As for Siu Mui Fa Keun, that form I remember very well. Back then I used to act and auditioned for Kung Fu movies. I practiced one form very well so I could perform anytime anywhere, it happened to be Siu Mui Fa. I even performed it at "Kung Fu Corner" once, a martial arts festival here.

I practiced this with a metal dart from a place in arizona (that last part didnt get typed, stupid fingers). Painful but a great motivator for not being hit!! The scariest part was when it went ballistic overhead. Just makes you want to clinch up and wait it out lol. Keep it up! this takes serious practice and respect, even when the hater see you practice and ride by just to make it known :D
