  Too bad this wasn't introduced when Mac OS Sierra came out or a couple years before High Sierra came out. I have Sierra on my Mac Pro.. works great ! My Mac Pro will not be going higher than high sierra. Will continue to use it till I can no longer use the internet on it, and then retire it for maybe a Mac Mini.

  Own a 2015 MacBook Pro with R9 AMD graphics the best in this series. I haven't even upgraded to Sonoma yet, as I am still on Ventura I believe 13.5.5? I will move from Ventura to Sequoia when it is officially supported on our aging macs. Being Ukrainian myself, I want to thank Mykola for all his hard work - Yes, we Ukrainians are hard working people and this is testimony to Mykola for allowing us to use our older machines. ANTIQUATED and outdated my ass ! While I have nothing against the M1 or its siblings, I'd like to put my foot in tim cooks mouth and make him chew it.

  Don't know if anyone will be able to help, but here goes anyway. I’ve tried four times to use OpenCore Legacy Patcher 1.5 to install Mac OS Monterey 12.7.5 on an old 4GB 8,1 iMac 24” running the latest version of El Capitan. It fails every time at about 13 minutes into the final installation of Mac OS Monterey. El Capitan runs without problems. I have previously used OCLP to successfully to install versions of macOS on unsupported Macs many times, but none as old as an 8,1 iMac. I don’t think I’m doing anything wrong, I’ve followed the instructions exactly, I’ve used different USB drives just in case there was an issue with the USB drive, and I’ve tried different formatting of the internal Mac hard drive too. A couple of times with Mac OS Extended Journaled and once or twice with APFS, but the result is always the same. Everything seems to go normally and it begins the installation by giving me a time remaining starting around 41 minutes, jumping to 23 and then progressing more or less normally down to 13 minutes. At 13 minutes it hangs for probably five minutes maybe more and then it finally goes to 20 minutes, 16 minutes, 15 minutes, 14 minutes, 13 minutes, 11 minutes and then after a few seconds it reboots the Mac and begins the installation of Mac OS Monterey again. So I can’t figure out what’s wrong, I have double checked everything, I have reset the PRAM and nothing seems to help. All suggestions appreciated.

  Thanks for your useful info, Mr.macintosh. I appreciate your work. However on a Mac Pro 5,1 it's not worth to install Ventura or Sonoma, even with OCLP 1.5. With 3D-applications there are problems with graphics performance and the Mac is not stable. Cinebench OSX and R15 don't run in Sonoma, they did in Monterey. The computer also boots slower and there are problems with the Wifi connection even after I forgot the network. Apps that require AVX/AVX2 have issues. I stay with Monterey with OCLP 1.5.

  mac update assistant appears while installing ventura from usb drive. I followed everything and then this mac update assistant appears, Not sure what to do. I cancelled and rebooted and then installing again. now i am in About 25 minutes remaining... stage.
