@@IamNothing82 I think the NK is better than Nelo if you want a surfski. I start to see plenty here and they seem to offer an excellent speed/stability value. They are also super light! But that Nelo Viper 46 looks great... Choice choice 😂
It would have been interesting to see you on the left side when you cross that incoming boat!
Next time...😃
Big waves when catching the boat! I also like the dog watching you arriving 😂
Yes it was a bit tricky in the beginning with all thouse conter waves, that's what makes it fun though, I think those waves were the reason why I couldn't keep the right side but had to go over to the left. Yes I was a bit worried that the dog would dive into the water to meet me haha...😂🤣
Always risky risky to put your arm up 😅
I think he will still be fine dancing the Macarena in that wave 🤣
Maybe, it was a lot of fun though...😂
@@larscrantz 😎
That was fast and powerful! 👍 Did you get any water inside?
It's fun when they accelerate😄! No I didn't.
It was going intense at the end! Do you have any storage in your kayak? I am considering getting what we call here a multisport and it is a kind of light and narrow (compared to most sea kayaks) river/coastal areas fibreglass kayaks made for speed. They don't have any storage for keeping them light.
Yes I do, all the way to the back of the boat. Watch my video "VKV Kåre - September 23, 2023" again, there you can see it from the inside.
@@larscrantz Indeed, I remember it! It is like this one too: kzread.info/dash/bejne/f4ib0tV7iNG7qMY.htmlsi=8IIiHWy08LnJ-SO7 The multipart kayaks here are exactly like them, but we don't call the empty space storage because they get filled with air bags. Do you sink if you capsize or can you remount it or do you have to swim with it? It might not be a big problem when paddling on a river but at sea it can be problematic 😂
@@kayakintro Well, it's going to be messy. It won't sink but it will be partly filled with water so a bit tricky to remount. I have tried it on calm water so it's doable, but I'd rather not...😂
@@larscrantz Do you carry a pump for emptying the water or do you just keep paddling in a sporty bathtub? 😂
@@kayakintro No pump, so far I havn't tipped over in this boat. I have come very close twice though, then I had to let go of the paddle...😂
It looked like it was the perfect speed for awhile :)
Yes that was a nice one, impossible though to stay on for too long with that final speed, especially with the small rudder I have on my boat.
@@larscrantz Can you change the rudder? I am currently using the longest rudder (surf rudder) and while it helps to turn well I am losing speed (like 1 km/h). I also find it makes the surfski less stable with side current.
@@kayakintro Maybe it's possible but for me it feels like it's more trouble than it's worth. In a way it makes it more fun with a small rudder as I have to compensate more with body movements to stay on course...😂
Looking cold despite being in June, I see you are wearing gloves!
Yes it was a chilly day. It has been really warm here for three weeks, real summer weather. But now it's back to normal swedish summer again😂. I have only been in a surfski twice this year, the Nelo 550. We have a new NK Nitro 600 in the club, looking very much forward to try that one out later this summer. Maybe I will also have the oppurtunity to test a Nelo 560, that would be interesting.
@@larscrantz It looks like what we call a British summer 😆 I hope you get some decent weather again soon. I would love to have your opinion on the Nitro and Nelo!
How it feels the stability in comparison from a viper 51 ?? - i'm interested in this type of boat but not sure ....
For me the Nelo Viper 46 ski feels much more stable and secure than the Nelo Viper 51 K1, I would never be able to surf in those wakes with a Viper 51 K1. But regardless, my advice is to always test a boat before buying...😊
@@larscrantz Thank you Lars - Enjoy your surf :)
@@MrBianco90 Thanks! Will do, it's summer here in Stockholm now...😊
❤
Do you also find it hard to surf on the left side of the boat? I became aware of it last summer and try to practice that side more, but doesn't feel natural.
Yes I do, and I find it even harder to hop on to the wave from the left in the first place, it feels awkward, maybe because I don't do it that often.
Time for your surfski and go surfing!
It has to wait a bit more for me until the water gets warmer, I have fun in my old beat up VKV Kåre from the seventies until then though...😂
Fun!!
Yes that was fun, not the best timing to begin with but I managed to get down into the wake in spite of that...:)
Nice one. I still haven't been on the surfski yet, good motivation video. 😊
Thanks and nice to hear from you again:)! That was fun, not everyday those big police boats pass by. I hope you will hit the water with your ski soon...😊
You looked fine! In that type of messy wakes the V10L can go at 90 degrees fast…
I didn't think I would make it there, I got to far in front of the wave and then it was a bit like paddling in a vacuum, but finally I got a grip on the wave and could fall down into the wake, a very fun session...😊
That boat was making some really large V wakes you could still ride over them despite being far. You could write a blog about the best boats to follow 😂
I have a list...😂🤣
You are definitely the specialist for catching boats 😂 It was super close at the beginning!!
Thanks:)! I begin to get the hang of it, it's easy when you have done it a few years...:)
@@larscrantzI still remember the day I got sucked by the boat and nearly hit it so I had to go right to avoid it and the V10L broached badly. It was a miracle I didn’t fall. I remember well that sudden acceleration when I was 5 meters behind the boat (in the middle). I was worried to end in the propellers 😂
Nice paddle exit by the green post! Yesterday I could follow a big boat like you did but I forgot to turn the GoPro on!! The weird thing is I didn’t expect it would work because it was a near 28kg sea kayak. It was a Current Designs Squall of 503cm by 55cm. I like it except I can’t sit in first and bring my legs. The legs have to go first because of the narrow cockpit. I fell sideways on the beach when a wave hit me…
Thanks:)! When I saw the police boat in the distance I felt I had to make a quick turnaround to be ready for the police chase...😂. See to it that you have the GoPro turned on next chance you get...😊
Looks much warmer now 😊 Was that the police boat? Perfect speed anyway! They didn’t stop to tell you to keep both hands over the paddle 😂
Yep, this weekend it was much warmer. I had a very nice day on the water😊! Haha no, not yet anyway. Yes, perfect speed and very nice waves behind one of the bigger police boats. Made my day...☺
❤
Fun paddle! I’ve got a cold since Saturday evening so waiting patiently until it’s gone. Watching videos while I stay home 😊
I hope you get well soon...:)
That looked so easy with you! With the V10L going right to left when following a boat can make it go sideways fast. Looks cold there, you’re not in t-shirt!
Those waves were short and somewhat tricky, it helped to have a short kayak. It was early in the morning so still a bit chilly. Today we have summer all of a sudden, 23 degrees...🙃
You caught it well at the beginning! That's where the V10L is difficult as it can go sideways fast.
You caught well that wave!
Thanks😊! I was being cautious though, still very cold in the water
@@larscrantz if you fall in can you remount it easily? I just purchased a paddle float because I got a sea kayak with a narrow cockpit: usually I can sit and then bring my legs in. With my newest kayak I need to get the legs in first and then I can sit.
Finally back to work, I see 😂 Looks warm. 5 degrees at night here, 16 during the day.
It has been a terrible Spring here, very cold, still barely above zero in the mornings. This was really the first really warm day we had this Spring. Today it has been raining all day and right now, at 1 pm, we have only 3 degrees. Hopefully it will get better.
I think in Germany and France some had snow, which is rare to see in May… So far I can’t complain as it’s sunny here but we are getting unusually cold weather for this time of year. We might even get some power cut between 7am and 9am because too many people are using radiators!!
@@kayakintro It must be the global warming...😂
@@larscrantzThe global freezing do you mean? 😂 Tomorrow is racing day and it’s icy!!
@@kayakintro Sorry, my bad. Yep, global freezing is exactly what I mean...😂
My unchanging friend over the years.Always be happy in this spring season !
Glad to hear from you my friend:)! This is unfortunately the only really fine day so far this spring in Stockholm. I wish you all the best:)!
Maybe with some "Easterly" wind?
Maybe...😎
Bästa påskhälsningen!

That was so fun! 😂
Paddling bliss...😄
