Tupuria King - TRAINLIKEAKING

Tupuria King - TRAINLIKEAKING

Kia Ora, Welcome!

As a working athlete and a coach, I know how challenging it can be to train effectively for paddling events.

I
have been training and competing internationally for over 10 years and have developed methods that help
paddlers at all levels surpass their goals, while still making sure they have quality time available for family,
friends and career.

To help you train effectively, I have designed online training plans that use periodized training phases to help you peak
effectively for your event.

Did you use the same technique on paddling as you paddle in oc1? The push forward of the top arm?

A vid on warming up pre race would be interesting. And if there's any difference in warm up for a distance race vs sprint.

Described that Bhutty race well yep I certainly tried to push the pace ended up cooking myself and that inside line finished me off. Example of Ego racing vs smart racing 😅 those tight loses helped with the motivation to get that title back at the following nationals. Great vid hope it inspires more waka paddlers to give surf ski a go 👍

Thanks for the tips Tupu... very timely for the 32km M2M race tomorrow 😎💪🏽🛶 I was at the finish line of the H2H race, you had a great spint off at the end and was only 10 seconds in it after 20+ km's... I hope Kacey is doing well after his mishap....

Mahalo for this! Great information! Really simple and the key is not to overthink it. Another great tip is to always stay hydrated even on non training days, be consistent, stay away from alcohol as much as possible and eat as clean as possible. 🤙🏾🤙🏾

Seems Garmin muddies the water some, calling Zone 5, 90 to 100% Threshold into anaerobic. What percent of possible output really is anaerobic? 97%+? I'm certainly not doing 44 minutes anaerobic in an hour race...

I remember the 70s when I was a surf life saver in cape town. We had such good time. Huge waves were no problem going out. The wind was a problem. I nearly died when it took my super light double away. They found it in saldana bay a hundred miles north of milnerton. We struggled to get back to the beach. Me being stupid enough to try bring the paddle back. I did but was absolutely knackered
