  I love mint and I love chocolate, but the first time I took a bite out of mint chocolate was the last. But mom still bought it all the time and it was heartbreaking to see a packet of mint chocolate cookies after she went shopping.

  I had mixed feelings about this anime. Personally 1, I think they should have left the country unnamed or made-up country with a made-up language set in modern era setting vs mediaeval/fantasy era. Instead, this anime is just saying to other people "Japan is the greatest, all the greatest things happen in Japan!!" while everyone is is like "But Japan is so tiny compared to China, US and Europe." Plus they're showing off accomplishments of other cultures to be like "Look Elves and Empire, We got Guns, Apache Helicopters and Tanks" but, like, all of Earth Countries have that. However, there is some other things to consider about the actual setting itself. Considering a fresh new, unpolluted world. The first thing the JSDF do is drive cars and fly planes out and start polluting the air and such. It's one thing to go to the new world and share science, medicine and agriculture knowledge. But robbing it of oil immediately just reinforces how selfish humanity is, that we can't live with messing up one planet, we have to destroy two planets with modern age technology. Think about it, Dragons would go extinct, Sexual Relations with the natives would probably give birth to new diseases and genetic experiments. However, these are things I only paid attention to after watching Gate more than once. And the more I watch it, the more selfish I think Japan is. The first time I was like "Wow!! Always wanted to see Modern Warfare clash with Mediaeval" but rewatching it changes your perspective.
