    Hello, thanks for a great video. We have failed on a Konica auto S3 by using the wrong solvent but will try again with something stronger tomorrow. We have noticed that the camera can be continuously winded without pressing the shutter release button. Does anyone know if this is a consequence of the sticky shutter blades ?

    Hey! I recently bought a Pen S f/3.5 but it trips the shutter every time you wind it. The frame counter also spins a full rotation every time you wind it. Have you ever stumbled across this?

    Many thanks! I just acquired an Auto S which had no focusing image. With this video I was able to disassemble the camera to determine that a mirror detached. I now have a focusing image but I’m afraid that the focusing distance is off. Oh well, an issue for another day.

    I guess with legacy to Sony. Minolta had good focusing system. Sony has the best now.

    Thank you so much for making this video. It’s pleasing to watch, how this camera is still related today’s world. By the way I just start experimenting mine with Fuji GFX, so far going good. Is anyone done any work so far ? Last year tried some 120 films on it and work great with film back. Only issue I’m having with the lens, it seems need to be service.

    I still have a Nikon F2 and a Nikkomat (lenses are all interchangeable on a bayonet fitting) with standard lenses, a big heavy telephoto lense and and fish eye lense. I also have an ancient Practicka, with a large selection of lenses, that I take on the beach etc. where I won't take my Nikons.

    Why do fixed lens rangefinders always have the shutter on the lens? Besides being cumbersome, it is extremely prone to breaking. I have owned several rangefinders like this from different brands and they have all broken. An SLR is much more reliable in my experience.

    Hello, I have one of these cameras and watching your video I opened mine and had access to the film winding system, however, in my case the small horizontal bar does not remain in the "unlocked" position. When I use the screwdriver and move it, it moves smoothly, but if I release it, it returns to the "locked" position. Do you know of any other procedure to keep the small bar horizontal so that it does not block the film winder?

    No,not a good camera ! Totally overrated !! Did use it professionally for a short time. Trash it ,the sooner the better ! Get an old Nikon instead and use all great Zeiss lenses on it.

    I bought my OM 1 in 1979. It still works, but the battry for the lightmeter is no longer made. I did attempt a conversion using a diode, but made a complete hash of it. So I just use a hand meter.

    On mine everything works 100% as long as you let the advance lever go so it can spring back to it's original position. If you do it gently the camera will jam! I will give it a clean and oil under the bottom plate, should help things return a bit smoother. Thankyou for the video!

    Thanks for sharing your story. It’s my dream to move there but not having a degree sounds like it’ll be a roadblock

  • @japanvintagecamera8869
    @japanvintagecamera886912 күн бұрын

    It is possible to get in without a degree if you can verify you have 3 years of experience in a trade or skill. There are many foreigners in Japan working in resorts or restaurants, these jobs don't require degrees. You can also enroll at a Japanese language school, which will allow you to get a student visa. With this visa you can get a work permit which will allow you to work part time. In time you can find a better job with an employer who will sponsor, not all of them require degrees so long as you have some kind of skill they can use.

    I recently bought a vintage OM40 as I want to get into film photography. Really an amateur here. I cannot see anything through the viewfinder. What can be the reason? Does anything need to be adjusted?

  • @japanvintagecamera8869
    @japanvintagecamera886912 күн бұрын

    The OM40 must have a batteries installed, otherwise the shutter and mirror will stay closed. Make sure the batteries are installed correctly.

    My timer stuck, what should i do? It wont go foward on the film, and wont shutter

  • @japanvintagecamera8869
    @japanvintagecamera886912 күн бұрын

    The self timer can stick for two reasons. It can stick if the shutter blades are stuck. If you remove the front or rear lens and add a drop or two of solvent to the shutter blades, that may cause the shutter to cycle, and unstick the self timer. If the self timer itself is stuck, you can add a few drops of solvent to the lever and let it run down into the mechanism. This sometimes doesn't work, if that is the case, try pushing the lever. This will often unlock the timer and shutter, the timer may break, but at least you can then use the shutter.

    Unfortunately, these are no longer really cheapies. Especially the Canon. Nice comparison though. I'd love to see you compare some 90s Nikons. They are often neglected and often cheaper.

  • @JamieByrne1977
    @JamieByrne197718 күн бұрын

    A big issue with these and comparable cameras is that they are not regarded as pro and people tend to obsess over this which is largely a mixture of fomo and flexing. In one way though, it's good because it keeps the price down.

    Hello. I would like to ask for your advice. Right now I'm interested in the Canon VI and P. I can't decide since they're both beautiful. Which one should I choose? And is there a 50 mm 1.4 chrome lens and is it expensive? Or is there any substitute?
