I am a rather fanatic Rod McKuen fan. I have a large collection of music and video of Rod McKuen. Some of these are own recordings. I will try to post as much as possible to promote Rod McKuen as a great performer, singer, poet and writer.
Nice cover of a classic. Fits well with Rod's style.

This is so powerful and emotional. I just read the Google translation of Jacques Brel lyrics and this adaptation of the translation is so good. And then the evolution of Kingston Trio to Terry Jacks life additions to the lyrics make all the versions so cool and important to note as a group, NOT comparing them separately as which is better! The best part is that each version is very good in it's own way.

Imagine Terry Jacks keeping the Adieu, Emil, and cheating Françoise? The song would’ve never gone mainstream. It had to be Americanized first with a more conservative approach. That’s the American music business!

Per a Tennessean article from February 1, 1970 this was the final take recorded almost at midnight of this episode of the Johnny Cash Show featuring Rod McKuen. The Ryman Auditorium balcony was jammed with McKuen fans.

"We used to go a courtin' along October Hill"...speaks of an older, gentler time. Love Frank Sinatra's version of this song, too. If you read his Wikipedia article, you'll see that this song is very much an autobiography.
