    I must have been lucky. 191,xxx miles on my rotary engine with zero issues. But used mixed fuel and always kept it in high rpms while driving warmed up. But I had a 12a engine.

    My shit hits 4,000-5,000 rpm when going 30 miles per hour. not every time. Not sure if thats a missfire. the only way to stop the loud noise it makes is by coming to a complete stop. also if i let go of the gas when it makes this loud as noise it stars slowing doing so fast as if i were slightly hitting the breaks... very dangerous because it slows down really fast and im not hitting the breaks so the person behind me doesn't know that im slowing down fast, to remedy this i have to leave my foot at the gasspedal so it will continue at a steady miles per hour. This happens even at 30mph actually very offten if i acceleatere too quickly. so im crusing down the street at 5,000rpm at 30mph XD!

    Mazda Rx8. Redlines at 9k. Cuts spark and fuel at around 9.5k ish. And they are balanced to run up to 11k, which some people tune for. But there's little to no power there without a turbo.

    Never buy an RX-8 with the expectation that you won't have to replace the apex seal lol

  • @xenokyomi
    @xenokyomi10 ай бұрын

    This is not even an apex seal problem. The only effect of seal issues in a Mazda RX# car is low compression, thus long hot starts and low power. Misfiring is a spark or fuel issue. These cars tear through plugs and coils due to the excessive heat and rapid cycling. Apex seals ironically are more an RX7 issue though, the RX8 is more likely to blow side seals and corner seals, or a coolant seal as the RENESIS struggles to evacuate heat as effectively as the earlier 13b. And yes, don't buy any car with the expectation you won't have to eventually replace seals, or something. Happens to all cars, all makes and all models. Just happens sooner in a rotary. Unless, you get ceramic seals. Which almost solve the longevity issues. They just last a lot longer than the very hard steel seals Mazda use OEM, due to lower friction, are lighter and require less oil. But they tend to shatter when you experience bad pinging, pre-detonation and misfires. Plus they're expensive. So with the tendency for these cars to misfire due to just wearing their coil packs and plugs out so fast, or just bad batches of fuel? Uh yeah there's a reason Mazda didn't. Good for racing though! High octane fuels do wonders.

    Experiencing the same issue too. Engine runs fine until you get to higher rpms, then it throws a check engine misfire. Compression is good, fuel injectors good, spark plugs and gaps good, coil packs good. Mass air flow sensor is good (although these are known to fail without throwing codes. Haven't checked fuel pressure or catalytic converter yet. My bet is a bad catalytic converter, just by smelling the fuel enriched exhaust.
