Let us be honest, he is simply too smart for Hollywood. That is why people consider him pretentious or pompous. They simply don’t understand what he is talking about. They have no idea what “dramaturgically”means, they’ve never heard of Glenn Gould, they have no idea who Chekov is, they’ve never read any of the books he mentioned in his interviews. He is not pretentious, he is simply intelligent and dedicated. Which is a shock in the modern world.

I understand what Brian Cox said about him fearing that Jeremy will burn himself out, but if he cares so much about his craft, what is wrong with that. What is actually wrong with that? Like if a footballer loves fucking playing football and talking about it, we never criticize him and call him pretentious. I think a lot of it also stems from the fact that people think anybody can act, that misconception, that it is just the occasional expression, dialogue delivery and voice modulation. So if you actually believe that, then anybody who takes it seriously and loves the process of it seems pretentious.

'Dramaturgically' is a word that's used commonly in german. English speakers not picking it up makes me feel superior to all of those unilingual peasants, and if you found the word weird, you're a cretin. I don't take your opinion seriously, like a clown who jokes on things they doesn't even understand, let alone have the intellectual sensitivity to make a joke about that matter. You don't understand that word, just stay in bed in the morning, the world won't even notice you're missing. Stupidity is an insult. Lack of education is failure as a human being.

And even if the movie is good or bad, he always be the heart of the film. The trouble with method acting is when the actor is so committed that they become an asshole to others, i.e. Jim Carrey in Man in the Moon. But by all indications, people who have worked with Strong are more baffled by his technique than anything else. The most damage Strong does is by far to himself, and, yes, it does start to look a little pathological, but unlike most method actors, I would argue that he doesn't do it in order to prove himself- he just doesn't know any other way to act. He's the antithesis to Culkin's "Whatever, nothing lowkey matters" attitude; he's 100% genuine, which is something you don't see as much these days in a field full of jaded artists (who are albeit often justified in their cynicism).
