Thank you! The meaning? I tried a oil painting technique which is called Grisaille. This is an underpainting you do before doing your real oil painting. In my video (linked) I explained everything. The short is just a snippet! Thank you again!

The butterfly was great painted softly the first way you painted it sometimes I take a picture of it and study it and go back & paint it once i see it clear. It only need soft color soft outline blended gentle soft antennas. But the painting is beautifully painted.

@guilainejeanpierreart2 ай бұрын
Hello! I used reference images. I used some pictures with saturated lights and shadows to be able to get these contrasts. So no, it is not from imagination. My imaginative drawings are simpler 😗 My goal was just practicing portraits.

Can other products be used to blend other than linseed?
@guilainejeanpierreart4 ай бұрын
Hello...linseed oil is normally the medium the most used to blend oil painting. I heard of saffron oil as well but never tried it. Maybe there is as well some thinner you could use? But you can also do without all these mediums. My drawing is small so for little details, It was necessary. If you draw on a paper enough large, blending with your fingers or with a blending tool is enough 🙂 I hope I answered your question!

I like using oil pastels too, I have a sample pack of senellier and they're nice for putting finishing touches on the work. I also like an Australian brand, extra soft Monte Marte oil pastels, they're squishy but not like the senellier, and my sister gave me a big set of mungo oil pastels and they're soft but not as soft as Monte Marte, and I have sunny expressions set, which is a Sakura brand. They're all wonderful in their own way, I totally agree you need more than one set for different affects. Loved the end result of your painting, thank you for sharing your video. Cheers!

What a very insightful comment ! Many thanks for all these information. I will sure look into all these brands. Yes, it is better to work with different consistency regarding oil pastels. Sennelier are beautiful but I feel you cannot work only with them, especially if you need to cover a large surface of paper. It is better to use maybe cheaper, but sturdy oil pastels. Caran d'Ache are as well very strong compared to Sennelier. Again many thanks for this nice comment! 🙂🙏❤
