I lost my Dd to cancer in January 2024 I had some time with him before he passed .I made my peace told him he made me a man and how sorry I was for things I did growing up miss him everyday love you dad .Till we meet again may the road rise to meet you may the wind always be at your back and till we meet again may god hold you in the palm of his hand.

Still makes my eyes wet, John. Back in 2001, when dad and I attended your concert, the mere thought of losing my dad listening to you sing this song put a mist in my eyes. Little did I know it was our final years together. This song was why I couldn't come into your concert in 2003, just after he passed. Here we are, 20 years later, and I need tissues when I listen to it still. Somewhere in me there is a piece of him. I see it now that I'm a father. I wish I had a second chance to tell him thanks for everything he's done. God bless, John

Growing up in Saltcoats Ayrshire we had a great teacher who would teach us all the traditional Scottish songs, this being the classes favourite. 50 years later I'm still singing it verse for verse.. RIP Andy sadly missed.
