What do you think of when you think of organ music? Do you even think about organ music? Organ music is not only for the church. The organ is a lot more interesting than you think: every organ is completely different. Organists too. Mostly...

🤣 Gratulation an / Congratulation to Steffi Wunderlich, William Tan & Charles Reardon!!! Mariahilf in München, St. Joseph in Tutzing... )!!!

Some informed comments from an informed member of the audience: 1.) There was a time before the internet? Almost unthinkable 🤣 2.) Yes, I have always wondered how many people, possibly through no fault of their own, have been influenced in some way by the recordings of Ton Koopman. I'll have to hold up my own hand with a sheepish look on my face here too. 3.) I like Stop Gear. Now you just need a segment featuring a guest with a reasonable priced piece of audio gear 😅 Well done. Very enjoyable listening! Can't wait for the next episode.

Keith & Melody Green were well-known in the U.S. as pioneers in contemporary Christian music. 'There is a Redeemer" is a song he is well-known for. It was written by his wife, Melody. Sadly, Keith died in a plane crash at the age of 28. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keith_Green

That space with the "bed" is undoubtedly the private quiet space for the organ technician / voicer who built it and/or maintains its sound, tuning and technical precision of the mechanicals.....the initial voicing and on-site tuning would have been months and months spent in the guts of that massive instrument. That place to sit and rest without climbing down & leaving the cathedral to go home was almost certainly a bit of a God-send.

Your comment hits the nail on the head.

Hi Fraser, I enjoyed the Toccata and Fugue in D minor, mum forbade me to play that at dad's funeral. I could still play it back then, I can't get past about the first four pages these days. I did Amazing Grace, instead. Sans music, just the lyrics to keep track of how many verses to do, with the minister suddenly launched into singing it without any warning and I had to jump in, lucky it was in the same key. ~25 years ago, the memory stuck well in my mind. My first exposure to Bach were from recordings of Wendy Carlos, Peter Hurford, and Simon Preston. BWV565 is in my top favourites, along with Widor's toccata (which is the only one I've actually heard played live in person - and played on a theatre organ, straight, no trems). Is Sinfonia from Cantata BWV29 in your repertoire? That probably is my favourite. I've often wondered why it's called a cantata, I've never heard a sung version of it. ... Tim.

Great Job Fraser! But I can´t believe people want to hear BWV 565 over and over again. Thank you for your Job Fraser. We ❤ U

The only thing I can say, Fraser, is that in my next life I have an Orgellehrer as good as you. Thank you very much for an excellent introduction to the art of the organ (which, of course, goes back to the ancient Greeks with their *_hydraulus_* ). Your ability is beyond my comprehension. Dein Orgelwissen ist atemberaubend.
