Horror books 👻 romance books ❤️ Check out my other social medias here for more bookish content: linktr.ee/carleylightfoot?ltsid=fe06f228-746b-47bd-90c0-b830f5a4fee8
Its ironic to me that a lot of straight booktokers will laud these books as "look Im so inclusive, I read sapphic romance teehee" and have no clue the kind of implications they have on the actual community. Like I was told that "Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke" was a sexy lesbian BDSM book with horror elements and what I got was an absolutely disgusting and violent book the fetishizes our pain and mental illness. It was so gross to read but because its so short by the time I realized what it was it was over.

Tbh... If he had been with me. There was a few grammar mistakes, but that's not what upset me. It's the fact that instead of saying things like "retorted, whispered, yelled, shouted, responded, mubled, etc.." it was always "said, says or say". It's annoying. Also, there was no point to the story...it was telling a life story of two friends growing up and apart. I don't understand why people said they cried to it. I don't like it.

Demisexuality exists and sometimes people don’t know their sexuality for a while. I get why it might be annoying for actually ace people but it doesn’t make the experience of demisexuality any less valid. Sometimes people spend a little time in bi before they realize they’re gay, sometimes they’re just bi.

Probably the ACOTAR series. I think SJM's thoughts when writing this series went like this: Let's make Feyre badass for all of 5 minutes before we introduce a hot fae man and suddenly turn Feyre into a character given purpose through male validation but WE ARE GONNA HIDE THAT WITH POORLY WRITTEN SMUT IN THE STRANGEST OF PLACES. ;)

For me it's It Ends With Us - Completed it and kept gaslighting myself into thinking that I just don't have good imagination since everyone I would encounter on booktok was praising it as a masterpiece. So I thought of giving a chance to Ugly Love but dnfed it the moment they got intimate. Then again I read Reminders of Him and could not like it at all. I just kept thinking since I am not very good at english, I just am not able to grasp the art that is hidden in the book that others on booktok see but I don't. Finally decided to give a last try to her book and picked up November 9 but immediately dropped it the moment the main guy said he wants to know the colour of main girl's underwear. I was like I have had enough of Colleen Hoover I just can't keep doing this anymore. After years of it, I stumbled on a rant on Colleen Hoover books on KZread and I was so shocked to see how many people actually hate her books. It made me realize even if the book has 4+ ratings on goodreads doesn't mean it's a good book. I felt so much relief discovering the people who do think that her books are problematic. The Things We Left Unfinished - Horrible, same vibes as Colleen Hoover book.

Rock paper scissors by alice feeney, the book was super repetitive. Therefore, it is extremely boring and kinda empty, and also, the characters were kinda flat, and the only interesting part was the plot twist, but even then, I got bored very easily makes me understand what makes it so trendy yes the plot twist was crazy but that's about it...2/5 stars there were even some questionable things that really bothered me but that's all I'm gonna say

I'm planning to write a college romance story, but it will be a manga. However, I also want to make it a novel for those who aren't into comics/manga/anime/etc. But a lot of times, I notice romance novels tend to have "spicy" scenes, and my story is more inspired by "From Me to You," which don't have any spicy/ sexual scenes. It's just more of a cute slow burn.

I also ask myself that question! I haven't read book lovers, but with other trendy books, I genuinely don't understand how their so loved, but then when I think about that for a bit, I realise that there are specific things that make books become to popular like a crazy plot twist that makes them forget about the rest of the book ( and u would know this the plot twist will be all they talk about clearly being the highlight of the book) or vibey summer reads or cute couple moments or stuff like that

Fourth Wing and Iron Flame. The pacing is like a 12 yr old who drank a six-pack of Monsters is trying to finish her creative writing project the weekend before it is due. Within the first 50 pages I was thinking it was Hunger Games, Divergent, and Twilight with dragons. Neither cliffhanger ending phased me, and her mom deserved it. I didn’t cry. She was a bitch.
