    Love 10 ft rods for Steelies and kings. My 10 ft 8 wt. is decent for throwing big streamers

    I had been tying my hoppers for hopper/droppers with a loop of mono instead of a tippet ring.

    Great video Thanks! Very clear and easy to follow. What size hooks do you use for this fly pattern? Do you see a benefit in using a Fulling Mill Jig Force Short Shank Barbless Hook Black Nicke FM5125? Do you use this fly as a dropper combo ?

    Nice presentation Steve. Why do you use a single color leader instead of the multicolored slighter which is stronger and thinner? Why not the multicolored leader all the way and have one less knot ? Is it because the single colored leader is stiffer/goes through the guides better/slicker?

    To loosen or tighten the harness while on the dog is almost impossible to do. The straps and slides dont move when you pull on them. Then you take it off to make adjustments and put back on over and over and its never right. Im done with it. Back to my cheap one thats a piece of cake.😢😥😥

    Where do you keep tippet for quick access? That is my only issue with the backpack vs a sling pack. I love the quick access to tippet on a spool with the pro sling pack.

    im in love for longer rods, not only for contact nymphing. they are good for single hand spey casting , they are good for wet fly or emerger fishing to do better drag-free drifts (to keep more line off the water), they are good for some exotic downstream presentations like dapping or riffle hitching etc. also longer rod generates more line speed , which is good for casting in windy areas, like lake or the sea

    Can it hold a net on a Gear Keeper retractor? Is it comfortable to pull and use the net?

  • @AvidMax
    @AvidMaxАй бұрын

    There is a small loop on the back that you could connect a gear retractor for a net.

    Thanks for the video. I'm new to trout fishing/ fly fishing and I like your set up alot, but I was wondering instead of the magnet on the side of the net which is a cool idea if you were to run that zip line from the top through the net keeper and if that would holster your net for you and not have to worry about the magnet

  • @jeffmaxwell9648
    @jeffmaxwell9648Ай бұрын

    Or have you tried ot that way?

  • @AvidMax
    @AvidMaxАй бұрын

    Good afternoon, I fish this pack a lot and I have changed the way I connect my net a few times over the year. You can certainly run the net without a magnet and connect it like you mention, I have tried it and do run it like that from time to time. The only thing is that the net tends to swing around some, and I like the handle to be in the same place all the time.

    is it me or does this seem more midgey than a baetis with that ; the tail and thorax certainly dont scream midge no doubt, but, in high flows doesnt it seem unlikely that a fish notices a tail, and the thorax more of a hotspot than a baetis body? just thinking aloud here im fairly new to euro nymphing nonetheless
