This looks like it could be very useful, but it's a little too fast and far away! :)
Thanks, such a clear and gentle voice with nice slow technique. Will be giving this a go!
Thank you for this video. I understood it very well. Just one request to use a different color yarn so we can see the stitch definition. With the yarn used in this video, it was difficult to see how the stitches looked on the swatch. Thanks.
Great technique. Wish you used lighter color yarn.
Thank you a simple and perfect solution 😊
Wish it was in sharper focus or closer. You are a good teacher and this looks valuable. Dinging in the background caused me to stop snd see if something was dinging here. Lost my focus then.
Wow! A lined tote bag in <14 minutes! This is a really streamlined and efficient way to make it. It's been a while since I've been a kid, but I think I'm going to use this method.
This is gonna take some 5hinking as I 'translate' to my method of knitting, Eastern Uncrossed which *always* wraps counter to English/Continental. I'm hoping simply changing the direction of wrap (as you did) will work as well. I knit with homespun Angora a lot, very little stretch to start with. My ribs can be pretty loose. Thanks!
Very cute bag!! Great demo. Easy to follow and sew. Nice fabric. Thanks.
👍😊
It's the opposite, you knit through the back loop on the wrong side, otherwise, it changes the look of ribbing. Working in the round, you need to work as you show in row 2: Knit normally, and pearl through the back loop.
I’m literally doing this now, lol! I love doing the snip and rip. And I love your idea of the edges being like that. I can imagine that cutting the edges with pinking shears would be great too.
How does ot work in continental knitting?
Am I right in thinking Hazel is only using a total of three needles there?
I appreciate learning this new technique. I got the gist of it pretty well from your spoken description but would love to see it closer up & in a lighter yarn.
Wowwwww that’s a wonderful technic that’s makes all the difference Thank you very much and happy knitting 🧶
Thank you!
I have always known this as the Norwegian Twisted Rib.
How would you use this technique on a 3x1 rib in circular?
Love it. But how to do 2x2 (or 3x3) in the round?
Thank you! I made 2 mini tote bags using your method 🥰
this video is going to help me finish a laryngectomy stoma cover for a friend so that she can attend her grandson"s high school graduation; thank you.
Hi Jaime & Amber, are you interested in fractional/decimal quantities for your store? I can send you more info whenever you’re ready. Thanks! Propero Consulting
Gorgeous work. Just beautiful.
brand new to sewing. love your channel. please do more videos. and way to get the printout that was mentioned in the video? thank you!
This tutorial is very helpful! The sound cuts out at 8:09 minutes, though -- right at the point of instruction regarding securing the collar. I really would like to hear what was said!
Thanks, I really liked this tutorial
Don’t need that many pins
How do you do the 2x2 in the round?
I never knew!!! After fifty lifetime sweaters. Wow! My name:B.Rae K.👍
This is the best description of knitting a garter tab that I have seen. It helped so much to show how the stitches are picked up. Thank you again!!
Hello! Do you have a pattern for this sock?
Thank you, thank you for this video. I just started knitting socks on DPNs and I was completely frustrated with my K1p1 ribbing. My knit stitches were so distorted. This video solved my problem. !!!
Rae, thankyou so much for this tutorial. It is exactly what I was looking for. Fortunately, it popped up automatically this morning and solved my dilemma. I am knitting the Ankers' My Size by Petite Knit, which, of course, has lots and lots of ribbing on the yoke. I was struggling to make my ribbing consistent and tidy, but you showed me how to correct that. Hugs from Texas, Barbara💕
Same here! Great tutorial 👏
Love it! Both are very cute
I came here bc i thought you were gonna show us how to make the Ahhhh Real Monsters!
I uses pearl cotton thread no. 8wt. Can I use the product that you used with your thread??
Hi Ms.Christina! This is Eliot, I have made 2 pillowcases! I love seeing you! -Eliot
I think that all knitters should appreciate this video. Thank you for sharing this more than clever tip. My ribbing now looks SEXY. I LOVE IT😁 Have a fab day 🥰
I just found this video and want ro thank you so much for doing it! I have a question though. I've found earlier on an online article the second method you are using here. It said it would suit any rib stitch, so I tried using in on a 1/1 rib pattern... It came out awful :( I'm wondering why you suggest different methods for 1/1 and 2/2 ribbing 😊
I also tried the second method for the 2x2 rib, and I still get big gaps in my knit stitch before the purl (between the V)
Amazing 🙂👍
This is such a neat looking end. It would be great for scarves, many of which just sort of end in the pattern without real thought to a neat finish. Is there a corresponding cast on to match this technique?
It never would have occurred to me that the material you use for the lifeline is so important, but your explanations make perfect sense now that I think about it. I also wouldn't have thought to use the extra cable from interchangeables, and that's brilliant. And what! Use they keyhole? Brilliant!
Thanks for starting with the samples of normal ribbing, and back-loop ribbing. I've seen directions for using this back loop style elsewhere, and noticed it looked slightly different, but didn't know why you'd go to what seems like extra work for just a slightly different appearance. The difference in elasticity seems worth it, though.
If I just do the scissor method where I cut a bunch of strips, do I just sew them together and press open the seam? And THEN fold it over with iron?
You have some really good information! You should consider filming horizontally, and editing your speech over top of the other footage as the video was quite still in the beginning.
Good idea!
Thank you 🙏
You’re welcome 😊
Thank you!! I tried sewing the jersey into a seam and it ended up fraying away where I had sewn it . Next time I'll use this method ! :D
Wonderful!
Hi! I'm local and love y'all- do you suggest this always over spray :) ? Thanks!
Thank you for this excellent video!
You're very welcome!
