I'm a Lowndes graduate, but for some reason I decided to get off my butt and go up to Atlanta and see this game. Easily the best game in the Georgia Dome up until that point. It was only a couple of years later though that Thomas County Central and Marist played two of the most remarkable games against each other I've ever seen at any level. And in the same season! The first game of the year and the state semifinals. Oh, and by the way, thanks for nothing Falcons!

I'm from southeast Georgia, and I remember playing Valdosta back in the middle and late 1980's. As usual, Valdosta had powerhouse teams back then. I remember back in 86 my high school (Bradwell Institute) went down to Valdosta to play them in the playoffs. We had a pretty good team that year as well, and we thought we would go down there and take it to them. They beat us 49-14 and we had like six guys on that team that went on to play D-1 college ball. But, Bradwell would go on to beat them three years later in the playoffs down in Brunswick, Georgia. This one was a lot closer as Bradwell won by 2 on a field goal late in the game. They don't call Valdosta "Title Town" for nothing.

Actually, it was not as bad as you think. 480i/480p scaled better on a CRT, so Technically that resolution would look slightly better on a CRT. Not only that, when you had screens for the most part that were 20 inches to 30 inches on average it really was not that bad. Also note, this was probably recorded with a VHS and the standard Resolution for VHS was 240i. So you are actually watching a reply of the game at Half Resolution.

Valdosta’s quarterback, Greg Talley, would go on to play of the University of Georgia, and help guide the Dawgs to 3 bowl games and victories in the 1989 Gator Bowl and 1991 Liberty Bowl. And Clarke Central’s kicker, John Kasay, would also go on to play for the University of Georgia and be a key member of the Dawgs 1987 Liberty Bowl and 1989 Gator Bowl championship teams. Valdosta defensive lineman, Michael Tolbert (misspelled as Tulbert in this broadcast), would gone on the play of the University of South Carolina from 1987-1990. Sadly, he passed away February 21, 2017. Towards the end of the game, you will see #4 for Valdosta, Coleman Rudolph. Coleman would go on to lead Georgia Tech to the 1990 National Championship.

Gee that food fight scene is pretty hard to beat as the best scene in the movie especially the part when Bluto is getting his food from the food canteen but Bluto at the top of the ladder spying into the female boarding house and has to shift the ladder from one window to the next window is classic! Belushi's facial expressions is 2nd to none other than Mr Bean!
