I think I have found a formula, for solution A I put 5g of silver nitrate, 5g caustic soda (99%) and 10ml of pure ammonia (25%) and 1l of demineralized water. for solution B I put 5g of glucose and 1ml of formaldehyde for 1l of water. is the formula correct pls? thanks bro

I'm not sure about the amount of grams your using or ml's as my percentages of the chemicals are all different to yours and I make up 10 litres at a time in concentrate form. All I can suggest is have ago and see what happens, this is all I ever did when I made mine up to get it right for me.

There isa a lot of different ways to make or buy the wetting agent, I never flame mine, never have, .. Wetting agent is much better and safer.

Your not adding enough violet to the clear coat. I add 1 drop of violet per 150ml clear plus 15 drops of blue as well, thats 1 drop per 10ml of clear.. The blue will give you the chrome look.

I’m afraid I’m still stuck on the top coating process Dave, my object has tiny dots in it after applying my top coat and it gets worse if I keep adding more layers of oil, what I noticed tho is after it dries the bubbles go away about 70 percent…. I don’t know how to solve this problem and it would be nice if I can send you the procures of the objects and the videos of me applying my top coat so you can tell me what I’m doing wrong.

The only thing that can go wrong (if your silvering looks great) is that your not letting the silver dry out before you top coat. This wheel in the video above will be sitting at room temperature for the next 48 hours before I top coat. If you want to top coat quicker then put it in the oven at 60C for 40 mins. Once you have silvered it takes a while to dry under the silver due to all the rinsing befor hand. This is the only thing I can think of whats making (any) top coat go funny with imperfections. Hope this helps.

Hey Dave, quick question, how do you make your Hydrochromed parts scratch resistant after top coating ? Mine easily peels away after a few scratches

You have to find a top coat that is ''direct to metal'' so it sticks to the silver, once that's on, then you can use a good quality top coat of your choice and give it about 5 coats..

In the UK we have the Johnsons baby lotion, I got 3 different types, 33% of each one (2 orange lables, 1 blue) then added a violet dye, 3 drops from a food colouring.
