    Please don't call it "greasing" the bow... it is "rosining"... you DON'T want to get grease on the bow (or the strings) because it won't work. "Rosin" creates friction between the horsehair and the strings, setting them in to vibration.

    Thanks for this. I now know how to set reference for A at 432hz but I didn't understand which notes you are tuning for the open high and low strings?

  • 22 күн бұрын

    Hi! You tune your tuner to 432Hz middle A, then set the high pitch string (on your left when you play) to A bemol or A, and the lower string to C# or D respectively. In this tutorial it's A bemol and C# as I always play those. If you switched cello strings to bass guitar strings will be the same deal, just one octave lower.

  • @experimentsinanalog

    That clears it up. Thanks. I had never heard the term "bemol" before.

    I don't know the English term, bemol is from classical solfège but A bemol equals G#.

    Amazing performance. Quick question, can you sing the notes into the Pipe and make melodies, but then effect it with the Pipe's effects? Basically improvising melodies on the go?

  • 2 ай бұрын

    Hi, thanks! Yes, The Pipe is constituted of a contact microphone, and you can sculpt the sound of your voice instantly using the algorithms and progressive, fretless knobs. If you just download and read the manual of The Pipe, you'll have an overview of its possibilities.

I am very excited about this instrument as I have been working on sound designing with my soma rig to build a Dune inspired album. The pipe covers a much wider sonic territory than I could have hoped for. I already see how this one will be used :) I have been digging through your pipe performances and I wish I had snagged one earlier!

    @@AbyssalPantheon How is it? :)

  • @AbyssalPantheon
    @AbyssalPantheon9 күн бұрын

    @sommerfugl030 so far, it's really nice! It's actually really flexible. I ended up snagging all 3 mouth pieces and I much prefer the flat response mic over the standard. The bassy mic is a close second. When I am using it in my rig, I typically patch in my cheap shure SM58 dynamic mic into a tube preamp pedal and route that into the pipe for crystal clear vocal work. When it's not processing vocals, I use it as a SOMA FX unit for my Lyra or Ether V2 (which is a weirdly great combo, too) I primarily do bass tone throat singing with it, and I really like the reverb algorithm for that. I've been using the Oktava algo processing instruments to work on some unique sound design. The Synth algo is also a lot of fun, and I love using Orpheus to roboticize/demonize my voice. Overall, it's a really neat piece of kit. The Enner is still my main instrument, and I've been primarily enjoying working with electroacoustic sounds and the cosmos :)

    Is it correct, that when the modulation switch is set to LFO/FB, the Mod knob does not 100% close the Mod signal when set to full CCW? It always bleeds a bit?

  • 2 ай бұрын

    you should never put the MOD knobs to 100%, it leads to chaotic results. That's valid for the top MOD knobs and for the track's MOD knobs as well
