It's a concept that's flawed. If you go back in time you have no memory of the mistakes you made before and therefore can't correct or alter them. In the new dimension the old you doesn't exist.

Nope, consciousness isn't magic. If you died and created a copy, there'd be two of you in the past. If you just died and reset in the past, you wouldn't know what happened between then and the future where you killed yourself. It's a funny film. It's not smart.
