    I would think that is why you put 3 stakes per tree and you water through your drip system. NOT the water hose.

  • @qctropicals
    @qctropicalsКүн бұрын

    If using a drip system, what's the point of using the stake? deep water? geez common sense is NOT common anymore.

    @qctropicals if you don't understand why you would use the stake with the drip system I'm not about to explain.

    Would like to see a test of using drip irrigation in the stake rather than trying to shove a hose in it. I think dripper in the stack is the recommended best practice.

    What about the soil PH, how are you controlling it. I believe pine bark is very acidic. Most plants need 6-7 ph range.

    You made some really good points and I'm going to revise my plans, rethinking the watering stakes. One thing I hadn't thought about was that it is not only water that the plants need, but oxygen....and with my clay soil that is a challenge. You talked about the inability for plants/soil to absorb water from a pan, or even below the root ball, when you have high temps. My tomato plants have been suffering, in spite of plenty of water every day, so much water that there is often sitting water in the saucers. But sticking my fingers in the soil in certain areas it is bone dry! It's been makin' me crazy! Right now trying to make sure the apple trees I planted a few years ago have what they need to thrive. Btw. talking about water.....I sure hope your cute dog is getting enough! He looks like he could use some!

    I’d also say pay attention to pests on your trees , they to can have effects on your leaves and fruits, (water feed and pest control ) ie spray neem oil or white oil etc on insects but not the bees that do the pollination .

    Thank you. I finally found someone who knows what they are talking about. Im trying to save two bare root plum trees I bought on May 31st this year and Ive seen so many KZreadrs telling people this n that, but even as a “Yearling” gardener I see mistakes they making or one said “I read somewhere to scratch the tree so lets try it”. :/. Omg that means she knows even less than I do. I already pruned one way down based on my instinct after verifying those parts were dead after the scratch test and now will lop down the others struggling. Luckily Im renting so collecting trees for next May/June when I buy my first house in MN (probably) with land. I’ve subscribed and have never donated the Thanks before, but your info is so spot on and literally will help me save these trees. When I gave a little mire money Ill donate again too. Gratefully, Christina

    I reside in Southern India. Sandy coastal area on the edge of the Indian Ocean. Planning to put some medjool israeli date palm seeds here which my aunty brought from marks and Spencer UK. In my area its tropical climate with one of the heaviest rainfalls in the world since I have steep evergreen forest Western Ghats on my eastern side. Rainfall is around 5000 to 7500 mm every year. In case the seeds give life to a palm will the palm die of extreme water shock in monsoons in case I plant it in the sand? I have seen some date palms growing in my town in one or two houses but I don't know which variety they are.

    yeah, the little succulent i have in a pot outside was still surviving, but until i repotted i didnt know that all that dead organic matter it was potted in went completely hydrophobic, and my proper care of it giving it some water now and then, didnt hydrate it. roots still alive and well, so i put it in a mostly pumice mix. now it can actually get a drink.

    I can testify to his accuracy about the bullshit regulations and politics that you have to deal with from small minded, local government and state government and even federal government so called assistance and officials. They’re criminals. Of course not all of them are but I would say over 80% are. It seems like everybody wants to turn political these days, but I’m gonna do it here. Vote for a businessman that actually made money fighting regulations in one of the most corrupt cities in the world and knows how to deal with deregulation. That man’s name is Trump. And don’t get your panties in a knot if he says or tweets something you don’t like. Try this instead. Shut the damn TV or device off. We need somebody that can overcome this bullshit. Otherwise we’re all gonna be customers of the big box stores with their leadership sitting in Manhattan, laughing about us peons.

    My Fukushu Kumquat fruited for the 1st time last year. Big tasty fruit. My only complaint was that each fruit had about 10 seeds in it. Alan, is that normal for this specific variety of Kumquat?

    Too bad no "1 year grow guarantees" like home depot and stark bros. About 10% of the plants/trees died even after planting and watering with in a year. Planted 2 peach trees side by side, both received same sunlight and water. one just died... no idea why. the other one thrived. went back to home depot and got a replacement tree with no issues. saved 79.99. Planted 3 pawpaws from stark bros. one died and they sent out a replacement asap. saved 59.99. so it is worth having the 1 year guarantee. Wished you had the same 1 year guarantee.
