Follow along with Host Brandon Dowdy and the Southern Woods and Waters crew as they head out on outdoor adventures of all sorts, throughout the state of Tennessee, and even a few other states from time to time. Lots of action, and "how to’s", will be had along the way. The crew covers everything outdoors, including Hunting, Fishing, and Adventures of all kinds. Whether we are Crappie fishing, on J. Percy Priest, or Deer hunting somewhere around the state, on private and public ground, chasing Rabbits, or kayak fishing, on the Caney Fork River. You will always find something, to keep you tuned in. While the main show has been filmed live every Thursday night at 8:00, on Channel 5+ in Nashville, for twenty years and will continue to be, we have created this channel to be able to share more of our in the field experiences, with you. With such a wonderful, and growing staff, we often have great footage that simply cannot make it it to the live show. We hope you enjoy watching the show!

John n Dayton, y’all know that the lake is not coming back. It’s better than it was. But it’s not coming back yet!! (Will you guys please be quiet for a few more years so us locals can have fun before the every weekend big tournaments resume to this area. We already had too dang many foreigners move in here)
Happy Independence Day John! Great show!
Stay off my fish Dayton! Lol. Good video guys
I have a few videos capturing this. Love seeing good ole jug fishing.
When you go do you have top leave?? And is the location in such a place that a typical American wife would be unable to find?? Thx in advance!!! Ky Lake is coming back the Crappie and Brown fish being the most improved and Sauger believe it or not!!!
Those guys using jet drive motors?
Why you hold that bucket so high when you dump them in your barrel? That buses the fish and causes a dark spot on the meat.
Not crazy about the camera angle
Well, filming yourself on a tight bank while trying to keep multiple people from being able to see what you’re doing can be tough!
Good work guys! I don't fish the Cumberland or Old Hickory, but was wondering what was the water temp and approximate date of the trip? I've had a hard time pinning down the best shellcracker fishing. Seems I always end up with mostly bream and only the odd cracker or two.
The trip was the last day of April. Water temp was 65-68 depending on where we were on the lake
@@southernwoodsandwaters1510 Thanks, seems like I'm a little late getting after them.
@@tresbeasley687 the bad water for the last two weeks pushed them off of their normal pattern and we found some back in there Saturday! You still have time, maybe even a few more weeks
I agree @sheltonfishing3656, people overlook these panfish. Good eating
Sweeeeeeeet 😁👍
I've been a subscriber for awhile but this really peaks my interest. Not many people out here who enjoy and appreciate catching these big ol hard fighting panfish. Ain't nothing like it . Yall boys done pretty darn good. We we out today and I caught a few bluegill and a few shellcracker. 1 of them I weighed it and it was right at 1 1 /2 lbs. If them thinds weighed 10 lbs you wouldn't be able to get them in. Hard fighting jokers. Good clean quality video guys.
Thank you for the kind words! We love all kinds of fishing and chase whatever species is biting at the time. Shellcrackers are one of my favorites! Winter we chase Sauger and Walleye, late Winter and Soring its Crappie time, shellcrackers for a few weeks, and then on to white bass, Striper, and smallmouth through the summer. We do fish in the Fall, but I’m strongly addicted to Whitetail😃
Man back in the day we used to catch sauger like crazy there in the hole 👍. I haven’t caught any sauger in years now though. They are some good eatin.
Enjoyed your video. Nice shot gentlemen.
I like a buttermilk bath, it's the same concept as the mustard (acid)
He won't be looking at his phone and walking into light poles. GRIZ
Is there a area of the lake you could recommend?
You couldn’t Run Me fast or far enough to Eat a fish from this River !!!
Thanks for sharing. Looks like everyone had fun and nice fish were caught.

Looks like Georgia.

thank you. prayers and blessings from murfreesboro tn...
I love my 1754 elite. it's a tank !!!
Awesome work on the editing. Really enjoyed your video. You guys crushed it out there. I just subscribed to your channel. Good luck out there is season and tight lines.
Thank you for the kind words!
are you more north of percy priest or south? i just moved to mount juliet and we’ve been looking for some good spots to put in
You do realize that you were above the boat ramp using a treble hook. I would take this down as you’re incriminating yourself.
Read the regulations and dates again. We visited with wildlife officials on this trip actually and discussed the fishery with them. We thank you for your concern though
Caney Fork River (headwaters of Center Hill Reservoir) Walleye run regulation in effect on the upper end of Center Hill Reservoir, including the Caney Fork River beginning at the boat ramp at Rock Island State Park and extending upstream to Great Falls Dam. Anglers restricted to use of one hook having a single barb or lure containing a single hook with one barb from Jan. 1-Apr. 30. No more than 3 rods and reels or poles may be used.
What a good video, I'm going to go fishing there in 2 weeks, which is what you recommend most for fishing and also ask how many fish they caught in total.
In five days, they had just shy of 500 Bass! The majority came on Topwater baits, and the remainder were on 12inch plastic worms
If you thinking of heading down into Mexico, look up Cora’s Lodge at Lake Aqua Milpa. Lake record 14.6 lbs last year. 100 plus bass days.
Very nice 9.23 Bass
some days are good.... some days are great.....but anyday hunting in gods country is just AWSOME....
Watch out for that doggy bear out there
We have made friends with him over the years! Lol
Awesome trip! Do you bring your own rods and tackle? How many days/nights are your trips? And what is an appropriate tip for your guide? A buddy and myself plan on booking a trip for the first time this year. Oh yah...What is the best month to go? Thanks in advance!!!!!
We chose to bring our own reels only and use their rods. It is easier to travel that way. Typically tip your guides 20-30% or so. They work very hard for you to stay on the fish all week!
GET THA NET!
Why he leave xcel
Good ol JR Sweat
good soop uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh duck?
GOOD JOB GUYS......
What u recommend for a guy without live scope
We don’t have one either! This film was done with a friend of ours that has one. We catch the majority of our Crappie by hitting the tops of brush piles and fishing structure. It is just depths that change all the time. The easiest time to catch them is in the Spring when they come in close to the banks (check out some of our bank Crappie shows). When they are in open water like on this film and you don’t have a scope, we prefer to troll for them with small 200 and 300 series crankbaits. This allows you to cover a lot of water and depths at the same time.
Sounds good thanks👍
Been down to dale 2 times now it’s a lot of water to cover haven’t really got on em yet
@@mattc4581 it is a tough lake to Crappie fish! Smallmouth are no problem there, but the Crappie act different in that deep water. This time of year you will find them mostly from the mouths of any of the creeks back into the middle of it. Try trolling small cranks in 40-60 feet of water
Congrats Brandon....great deer
What an AWESOME example of long-arming/forced perspective you used for the promo.. You got them both in one shot! Total cheese.
Thank you! We do our best, what’s funny about it is we couldn’t care less about the size of them. We air many hunts from across the state with hunters of all types. We have aired everything from 1.5yr old spikes to a 174inch buck. If someone is looking for a rendition of “Monster Bucks”, we ain’t the place. Real Hunters being everyday hunters is all we do. We will be sure to hold our deer differently next time!
