    For some reason Amazon says that this particular part isn't going to fit an 05 focus, but there's another one that looks almost identical for a few dollars more that does. I am going to go with your recommendation just because you found a filter for it, and that's the hardest part 😂 my mechanic has always said he'll look in to my "lifetime" filter because that couldn't possibly be right but he never does. I'm just gonna do it myself.

  • @matt-diy
    @matt-diy6 күн бұрын

    Good luck! Shouldn’t be too bad!! Also if you look in the description, it will fit a 2005! They probably have the fitment tool wrong.

    How much fuel do you lose when draining? I loosened my drain petcock and after about a gallon of fuel loss, I tightened it back up. Am I missing something? Thanks

    @@matt-diy I first tried tapping it in with a chisel then I switched to using a carriage bolt so I could hit it harder. Then I tried the 2" PVC. Then I put it in the freezer for a few hours. No luck with any of it. I think the issue is that it is virtually impossible to keep it perfectly vertically straight even with the bolts in place. Once it goes a little crooked it gets bound up and there is just no way it will go in at that point. If you look at the tool that has been designed for this it has some very long guides that go into the bolt holes that keep everything perfectly aligned. Anyway, I put it in the freezer again last night to give it a longer cool down period. I'll give it another shot after work today and if that doesn't work I'll break out the file.

  • @matt-diy
    @matt-diy24 күн бұрын

    Yeah I know the struggle, I think even some aftermarket ball joints might be made just slightly the wrong size. Ideally you need a press of the pvc doesn’t work but your right, have to keep it perfectly straight!

    @matt-diy I have a question I was hoping you would be able to answer. So I have a 2014 chevy impala limited ls, it started out being just to the left. But now it's gotten worse. When I would turn left sharply the traction control would try to activate and become tough to steer. I had a friend look and he suggested it was my power steering pump, so we swapped that out. Still did the something now it's getting worse. To the point when I try to u turn steering gets really stiff and my idiot lights come on for service abs, stabilitrak and traction control. I was hoping you've ran into this a had an idea where to point me. I've heard a range of things from rack and pinion, a sensor, bad connections, strutt, wheel bearings as well as cv shaft. Hope you have anything you could advise me on 😂

  • @matt-diy

    @@christianchadwick1867 I haven't experienced this unfortunately. May try replacing all the power steering fluid? Could be dirt in the steering rack causing it to bind.
