RealHouseDIY

Welcome to my channel where I'll share my knowledge on DIY home projects (all levels of experience), engineering, woodworking, tools, building, repairing, appliances, and everything else in and around the house.

My videos will be geared towards DIYers who may not have the same tools as the professionals, and may prefer to work at a slower pace with higher quality (since you're working on your own home!)

I strive to work on all projects myself and complete them with high quality and meeting code, while eliminating labor cost.

Remember to like and SUBSCRIBE! I have a lot of videos and tips to share.

    Very informative video. I am in the planning stages on replacing my windows and siding and was leaning towards toe Provia windows. What did you use to finish the inside around the window? Do you know if Provia supplies something (wood or vinyl or PVC) to finish around the window on the inside?

  • @realhouseDIY
    @realhouseDIY14 күн бұрын

    @@frankrongione6778 I'm just adding a small wood molding (new interior stop) to fill the gap and paint. The local window supplier says they use a Z molding (sounded like they use a white aluminum) when there was no existing interior stops.. slides under the window casing, covers the old jamb, then covers the gap to the new window. I prefer a wood interior stop. Then I was going to add caulking to the window sill gap, but I think wife prefers new so I might just replace those. The Provia window does have a channel around the entire window interior so it should accept something similar to the still extender that snaps right in.

    Manufacturers make it very difficult for consumers by using their jargon and branding names that mean NOTHING to us- needs to be regulation disclosing materials of 10 most vulnerable failure parts. Warrenty that Delta and Moen is huge so that cuts down some competitors- But labor is very expensive (& I get why)- What fixture will more likely require a plumber in 1 year, 3 years, 5 years, 10 years? Hands free (which would be so cool) is a definate a no no- extra time for install & batteries (like we dont have enough in landfills already)- havent seen a better YT than this one-no one really as helpful as this guy. I thought you would show how to check the functionality of just the module, which you did not do. I mean you used an indirect way to figure it out (by checking the batt and contacts and continuity of the wires). I hoped you would also check the connection points on the module itself (sometimes a little dirt on one of the metal bars may be the culprit). Good vedeo but i hoped for a module check-up

  • @realhouseDIY

    @@mixalis11111 right I didn't explain why it's not easy to do that. Would need some special equipment to measure the high voltage, high frequency output. It would damage a meter or scope. The best way is to see or hear the spark and for that you can confirm the igniter wires are good first.

    I'm not sure why this video is rated as heplfull. I've just wasted 1h30 trying to do it without removing the front door. I honestly think it is not possible. Maybe someone who really know what he is doing can do it, but for most people i think it is not realistic. I bought a new one (kind of stiff), so maybe with an old one already shaped correctly (and soft), you can do it this way, but i wouldn't count on that. Dont waste your time and remove the front door, do it properly, you will save time. You can find how to do it in many other videos. You're welcom!

  • @realhouseDIY
    @realhouseDIYАй бұрын

    @@Mcblounnn at least on this particular model it's not as simple as just removing the front door. It would require the top panel to be removed, then the control panel, then the front panel. It saves me an hour doing it this way, although with just the top panel off (2 screws) you get a lot more access to the top of the gasket. This method is also a must if you have a shelf or stacked dryer on top.

Despite losing some attachments over the years that I could probably find some generic replacements for- it has tugged along fine for well over 10 years. The suction is AMAZING. I used to own an extremely heavy and extremely expensive hoover that they used to sell via door to door salesman. This one was a fraction of the cost and much much better! So when I didn't notice it clog up on me and it stopped working half way through my vacuuming... I thought it was done for good. I waited an hour for it to cool down- cleaned it out- and hoped it was just an overheating issue. But nope. I tried turning it on and... nothing. Then I found your video. I didn't know it had a fuse! I do tile and according to the rules, to determine the grout size you take the tile size deviation and multiply it by 3. That should be your minimum grout size. If you are doing a small area it doesn’t matter. If you really need to make it perfect you can run your pavers through a wet saw. I use 1/16” spacers on anything and everything and ignore the rules and only had a couple times where I had to number rows but 99% of the time it was ok. 1/16” is the minimum grout size you can use.
