Great video on part selection, whats the best way to obtain spice files for these parts? is it easier to make your own model with specs in a program like kicad?

In LTspice plot section you can write something like V3*I2( identity the nodes or name them as you want) and it plots power

It is funny to see how long you can discuss a 40 V MOSFET for a circuit which requires a Vds of at least 50 V. 😉 When I need a certain device I always open the supplier webpage from Mouser or Digikey and look for useful devices they have in their store according to Vds and Id. Then I will use the option to sort them according to their price and I take one of the cheepest. If you use SMT devices you have to make sure that the junction to ambient heat resistance is sufficient to dissipate the heat generated in the device.

With respect to the component selection. You usually have a feeling about the voltages and currents for the components to handle. So if you expect to get 25 V at 1 Ohm you will expect to get 25 A of current to handle for the active devices. So you will select devices which can handle 60 to 100 V and 30 to 50 A. You will not use a 1 A diode in this circuit as you have shown.

LTSpice is one of the easiest tool for circuit simulation. And it is very powerful. You can learn it just by doing. In the beginning you can just click some very simple circuits together in order to get familiar with the look and feel. To get progress is just a question of a few weeks using it.

I don't think the circuit at 32:09 makes any sense. The mosfet is just shorting the power supply to GND when active 🙃

Hi Ayoub, there is an inductor between the power supply and the MOSFET that will prevent any shorting.
