Reminds me of my years, working with Washington Ballet as a young apprentice, and working with Choo San Ghoh It was my first time being in front of a genius Choreographer I learned so much.from Choo San. I was so fortunate.

I very much enjoyed the section. Even though I taught dance at the college level, I remember learning the material and then cleaning it. I found that this was my niche and dance. Many people want to choreograph, but they don’t want to put in the necessary work to clean. I also enjoyed the offer rhythms. We used parts of America from west side story, composed by Leonard Bernstein. The music was complicated and we had to actually purchase the score to get the counts correctly. Rita Moreno mentioned this once. But when you were working with gifted composers, they are often often off rhythm.

@@magnetpi99 I believe there was an issue (royalty) with the original choir it was recorded with it. That would be the only reason you can't even find an image for that album. I still have the original on a cassette, but it's damaged.

The Barber makes this dance so ‘unnecessarily' (?) difficult. Why not find something with a regular meter (and ideally something more melodic and whole-tonal) 😂 ? I’m not saying there isn’t room for Barber but not in ballet

I disagree. I it is different and I do not find it to be over the edge. One time I watched Diana Vishneva dance to an atonal German piece about a clown that was obsessed by the moon. Now that was odd!

I absolutely loved this ballet for a long periods of time I would just sit in my room and watch the ballet for hours, rewinding it and pausing it just to get the movement right or to catch the music phrases that I loved to hear.
