My channel is showing skiing slopes in Europe - I tend to go skiing twice a year in Europe, once with my mates of similar levels and once with my family resulting in 2 different style skiing trips.
I learnt to ski when I was in my 30s and I noticed it was like riding a bike where once you have learnt it doesn't go away. So I decided to get my 4 year old and 9 year old sons taught in the UK Chill Factore ready to take them where they could enjoy the real slopes. This made them so keen when they heard the real slopes would take 100s of times longer to ski down than the Chill Factore slope of only 30 seconds as well as not having to use the drag lifts so much!
Also some clips of my model railway in the loft.

Magnifique endroit 🤩
6th Feb ???😮 I thought it was around the end of March. Maybe it was the worst snow season (in France at least) in many years. But it's ok, we still can have fun. Good video ! 👍
6th Feb 2024 - taxi driver was saying there is no good time to go now as the weather varies so much. Have to rely on the people managing the slopes as they will try to provide the snow and even out the slopes otherwise they lose business if too many slopes are closed.
Hi ! When, exactly, did you make that video ? I'm impressed by the little amount of snow at St. Gervais I was in Courchevel until march 20th and it wasn't much better.
Motorway pistes
Nice to see how a run is from a child's perspective.
@@Puzzoozoo Makes you realise how happy they are as well as how easy they find it. Even when I took oldest down a black run he still wasn’t that scared: How my 10 yr old copes Skiing his FIRST BLACK RUN down DESCENTE !! - Tignes Apr 2023 kzread.info/dash/bejne/aXl51dOyepOdkZs.html
For now, farrrr to steep for me.
Was a nice slope even if a bit icy in some places! It looks a bit steeper than I remember it as sure I didn't struggle down it.
Not very fast but you seemed pretty smooth and stayed in control even near the bottom where the snow wasn't so great. Anyway lots of speedy skiers are out of control and causing a danger other people and themselves.
It's a snowboarder boredom nightmare
hmm.....La Verte descends from Rocher de Bellevarde in Val d'Isere to the top of the Daille gondola where it meets three red runs and one blue run, Diebold. All of these runs are in Val d'Isere, not Tignes.
I would call it one example of a Europe wide problem of not having a continent wide standardised run colour system.
😂
I kept expecting a big drop to suddenly appear out of nowhere but it never came!
For a run that is said to be popular with beginners, it looks damn steep in parts.
It was and a very long slope (even with plenty of rests) for our 5 year old!
hm, is this unusual? happens a lot in new zealand
Pretty usual in Europe, not sure what's so special about this one but whatever!
i dont get it either... anyways, second?
i dont know what i am seeing and i dont know why this was on my recommend.... anyways, first
People like watching the lifts so that’s why I include them-maybe so they can check how hard it is to get your kids on a ski lift like my wife does. Me myself am more into the slopes as they fill me with adrenaline!
The French word for green must be blue, for that sure ain't no green.
Not decided where to go next season as yet, but is Tignes suitable for beginners come early intermediates?
Not really as there were not any good green easy runs for beginners - my wife is a beginner and she said she didn't like a lot of the blue runs as they were steeper than other resorts we've been to!
@@michaelsmith429 Right, thanks for the heads up. Looks like I won't be going to Tignes then. Might go to Avoriaz instead.
@@Puzzoozoo Did Morzine years back and was ok then.
@@michaelsmith429 Right, something to consider. You done Les Menuires?
Yes that was better as the blues were more like blues!
Wow, very patchy snow
It was but at least they kept the slope well groomed!
magnifique station ! les piste sont super belle !
I learnt to ski mainly on that run!
Nice calm slope with no steep drops so ideal!
@@michaelsmith429 I hope so, I'm going there - Arc 2000 - in March for my second ski holiday.
@@Puzzoozoo Plenty of good slopes to go down without it being too steep for beginners. My favourites were: kzread.info/dash/bejne/aIWOzLeSXbyufdY.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/iYx2s7GniJPeqdI.html And a fun run I always like trying: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lIuFpbVwkbvbXbg.html
@@michaelsmith429 Yeah, they all look mellow enough even I might be able to ski them, and on the last one there will be no children there on 15 March. And I'm going to Passo Tenale first in early Jan.
Love the runs dropping from the Grand Rochette but rating Mira as a blue is irresponsible and could seriously catch nervous intermediates out. It is most definitely of red gradient until 2:10 in your video.
Agree, we didn't take the kids down that slope!
This makes me want to go back here so badly❤
It was a good resort and popular with people I know.
Ah, memories...
Flat light, I hate it! Well done you for skiing in those conditions.
Yes you don't see the bumps so easily until your skis hit them!
@@michaelsmith429 When I went to Les Deux Alpes, second day it was like that with mist as well as the flat light, couldn't see the undulations, so I got out of control and fell twice, and twisted my left knee, and that f up'ed my holiday, as I couldn't put much weight on my left leg.
@@Puzzoozoo Must have been horrible for you to see the slopes but too painful to do what you want to.
the blue one (I aint spellin that shit 💀) is really good, its really fun to leap of the moguls on your ski's!
It may be an illusion but I think this year they have widened the piste at the bottom part where it get a bit icy
That will help as was often crowded and having ice as well did not make it easy!
Nice, I was there a couple of weeks ago. Great video!
you should try lucifer.
Hello, would you be so kind to answer me . Is "cascades" the real blue and it is good for beginners?
Not ideal for beginners as some bits are steep and narrow as you can see in my clip.
Really cool video and visualization ! May I ask what software/gadget you used to gauge the speed and the map in real time ?
I looked it up in Google as it comes with your GoPro but you have to turn it on in the settings and then use the GoPro Quik app. Searching for how to in Google came up with guides like this-at 5mins 20 secs in to video: m.kzread.info/dash/bejne/aIuo3LShZK2tp5c.html
50 km/u is a normal speed. I did it last year as a beginner.
0:11 this song of telecabine i love this. This really brings back memories of the transarc. and it's going to change next year❤
Continue to skiing please, you can go to les arcs please ?😊
Have got a whole playlist of Les Arcs slopes when I went in Feb 2023: kzread.info/head/PLdbXKS9OXS7gOn8ZBgIaHTflBU3YSa5Y6
Hate that! People think I'm faffing when I go digging ice/snow out from my bindings but some skis seem to be particularly poorly designed for accumulating it and having this happen
Agree and I was so shattered after walking back up the slope as it was too icy to put the boots on the slope. They worked fine after that!
So sweet ☺
Is great when they're that age and it surprises them!
A very easy red that should be attempted once you're comfy on the "classic" Carroz blues such as Marmottes/Portet.
Yes, definitely want to go back to Flaine as lots of good runs
Went down there one year and some of the piste had small stones on it. Completely ruined my skis 😢
Yes you can see it was a bit like that when I went down it but still loved it and I always hire skis so never a concern for me.
I added the comment before I’d watched the complete video 😃. We’ve been going to Samoens for years and skied the Cascade a few times. Not always open, and you can probably see why. The conditions looked amazing for quite a lot of your run.
Can understand people not wanting to ruin their skis but I loved the run and would definitely be going back there in the future.
Love this run. Nice speedy chair lift back up too.
Many classes.
I like seeing your son follow you everywhere, but I think he struggles a lot on tracks like these. Try to spend more time with him on blue tracks and help him with the correct body position and making parallel turns. I believe he will have much more fun and progress faster. Soon you'll be the one trying to follow him 😉😉
Yes wasn’t aware how bad the moguls were going to be as I agree with you and would have avoided that slope!
W dad
Going in March for the first time. Can't wait!
Is a good resort and definitely want to return for another trip.
Ski with my daughter who is also 10. I'm rarely that much distance away as you are here with your son. Climbing back up the hill even 10 metres below her is a workout and then some!
Yes he doesn’t fall so much now so need him to practice getting up after a fall as easier when you’re younger!
Go to les ucherts
If that’s the La Thuile and Rosiere resorts, have been to them but didn’t like the drag lift they have joining the 2, otherwise the resort was quite good.
Black runs have changed this would barely be a blue run at my resort.
I agree as this was definitely not a black run but it filled my son with confidence thinking he had done a black run!
C’est sur que sans bouger la piste est pas très compliqué
What month was this? The top slopes look great but the bottom ones... Not so much.
Was in March but loved it so planning on going there again in the future as hadn't heard of the resort before I'd been - well worth returning.
@@michaelsmith429 I've booked for March too. Nice to know it's still skiable then. I hadn't heard of the resort until this year either but it looks great. Can't wait to go!
Did ask the taxi driver if there was a good time to go for snow and he laughed saying you’ve the same chance of snow in April as you have in December and sometimes there’s been more snow in April than February-it is just luck!
On the way there this winter. From all the videos I've seen so far, it looks great. Besides all the boarders stopping at the narrow slow signs 😉😂
