10 epi and you used a 5 dent reed?
oops I meant to say 10 wraps per inch divide by 2 = 5 epi in the reed for tabby.
@@MargeryErickson thank you, I am really new at this and trying to wrap my head around it all!!🤣🥰
You are welcome. There is a lot to learn..wrap, warp, weft, woof😂
Watching the shuttle move is magical
Many hours of weaving!
I do thread bracelets and it's enough for me to not want to untie it all But damn... What you have to do is scary ._.
This wasn’t too bad….only a short backwards….done longer..
Ery nice
Thanks
Ah, unweaving, don’t love to do it but it is so satisfying to fix that pesky error! 😊
@@sueannesullivan3827 Yes or you find them later!
Great points. I continue to hear the $100/shaft price myth 2 years later. I actually replied to a reddit post repeating this myth with a lot of the exact points you make in this video. Regarding number of shafts, you can always use fewer shafts in a given project. Generally (except models like the Schacht 4Now4Later) a given loom can't be expanded, so if you ever want to do more complex weaves, you would need to buy a new loom (or trade up) if you decide you want to do patterns requiring more shafts. With regard to weaving width, you can always do doubleweave to increase the weaving width, but that basically divides the effective number of shafts in half with respect to patterns. The price you pay for a used loom can be heavily dependent on location. Floor looms are generally very heavy, so a private seller isn't going to ship, which means local pickup. Thus if the area doesn't have a weaving community, demand may be low, which drives price down.
Thank you for your comments.

Thank you

Thank you.
Fiber reactive dyes, right? So pretty!
yes.
I've tried it but my breast beam is not removable, thus I can't comfortably get my hands into a good position.
True not all looms are created equal. The loom I am using is a Baby Wolf. I can't remove the beams either. Luckily the width from the beam to the heddles is not very far.
I'm going to give it a try. Anything to make my life easier 😂.
Good for you.
I thread front to back but lay my red flat. Much easier!
I learned front to back and was taught to lay the reed flat.
I'm self taught and also thread front to back, but leave the reed in the beater. I think I'll try it laying down 😊
So stunning. Love the pattern! how many shafts is your loom?
This loom has 8 shafts.
Margery, so beautiful! Love the iridescence you got with these colors. Tencel is such a gorgeous fiber and you have really brought out its luster!
Thank you.
this is going to sound wishywashy, but for me it depends on which loom I am using. With my floor looms, I like to lay the reed flat, and with my table looms, I like to sley my reed leaving it in the beater.
I can understand that. Thank you.
@@shuttlepilot that's not wishy-washy..... each loom.is different. You sley the way you and your loom is the most comfortable.
Me too.
I thread it flat and I take 4 ends in my hand thread them in the read it's fast❤
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for posting this here, as I don´t use FB at all, and this is so very helpful! Lovely designs! I put my cones out on the table too, leave them there, rearrange for days, making sure i have daylight as well as artificial light, makes a big difference. I do the same with my yarns for knitting fair isle jumpers, btw. Thank you again! All the best, Su
Thank you. Yes looking at the yarn different times of the day is a good idea.
I’ve been struggling with this. You’ve made it very clear. Thank you!
Thank you.
Thank you but please next time please put the camera over you so we can see clearly what you can do! From this position is hard to understand how you are moving. Thank you again for posting anyway!
Yes I saw this when I watched later… I did a YT short showing a small sample tying on with a better angle. I’ll plan on a redo. Thanks.
Enjoyed this video, good designs and clearly explained.
Thank you.
Thank you. Great tips.
You are so welcome!
Drape looks good here
Thank you.
I can’t see what you are doing!
This is a very short example. Here is a link to show the whole process. kzread.info/dash/bejne/mn2TyZeslsq7hrQ.html
Are you using a 4 shaft or 8 for the "cat" towels
This is an 8 shaft pattern, one of at least a dozen I designed and sell in my shop. maverickson.etsy.com/
Why are parts of it stringy? (I know nothing about any of this)
Those are the sections that will be fringe for shawls.
Thank you so much for making this! Do you have a video about which Beka loom to select?
I don’t have a video. The main difference is the width. 4” or 10”. my preference is the 4” for small bands. For anything wider I prefer my Kromski Rigid heddle loom.
I have tried a temple and didn't like it but I understand why others might. This was very explanatory, thank you.
I also prefer not to use one. When I took a class at Vavstuga we all HAD to use one. I am fine with the draw in I get without using a temple.
Thank you so much Margery for taking the time and effort to explain! That was very helpful.😊
Glad it was helpful!
Bellissimi lavori brava
Thank you.
Hi Margery, you have such wonderful advice and teachings. Can you, at some point talk about the use of temples? I know what they are basically used for but, I don’t understand why they are used so much. I’m confused. Thank you in advance.😊
Great suggestion! I have used them a few times. I’ll work on this. Thank you.
Another excellent tutorial! Thank you so much :-)
You're very welcome!
Hundreds of miles?!
Not really…just feels like I have. Maybe more like 10 miles.😊
Thanks. This is a beautiful weave pattern and you explained it well. Your dyed yarns are gorgeous.
Thank you so much! Available in my shop.
Oh, can we see that slowed down?
I could post the slower version on my regular channel. Had to be under a minute for the YT short.
Beautiful straps and other items. As a raw beginner I'm enjoying your video. A question:- can acrylic yarn can be used for loom weaving?
I have woven with it. As long as it is not too stretchy. A softer beat works best.
Your info is very helpful, I'm looking into getting another 4-8 shaft loom, small. I'm a newbie but so far I love weaving, using a rigid heddle loom and I'm not crazy about using the pick up sticks. By the way, I'm from Lebanon PA so we are kind of neighbors.
Thank you. Yes you are not far. The Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen has a show in Lititz June 22&23. Stop in if you can.
Used looms can have different parts than new ones, even from the same brand. They also often don't carry replacement parts for your model. Learning the hard way here.
Yes that is so true.
Loved you tips and tricks, thansk 😄!
Glad to hear.
Love this idea! Thank you so much! That is a really cool bench too😊.❤
Glad you like it! The bench is great. Slides... no longer made.
Thanks Margery. Great idea.
Thank you.
Well done! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Margery, what great tips, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Beautiful work. Thank you.
Thank you.
You could make all of my favourite hero capes from my favourite videogame Runescape 3 like an Igneous_Kal-Mor cape would be so easy for you this is nuts!! You are one of a kind. This is very neat very long and very creative, you have clearly worked very hard, thankyou for sharing
ohh cool idea.
Very vibrant colours and neat work, i know notging abiut weaving but you're clearly very skilled and i appreciate you sharing these videos with us strangers
Thank you…many years of weaving.
@@MargeryErickson, there's more to it than many years of weaving. How do you get your salvages so even? I've watched many weavers who fuss over every throw of the shuttle to keep that salvage perfect. But not you... You throw that shuttle and the tension is perfect. No special combination of throw, fuss about with the yarn, then beat. What's your secret? Or is weaving your super power and your salvages just come out perfect. 💖🌞🌵😷
@@suzisaintjamesHow the bobbin is wound, getting comfortable with throwing the shuttle and winding the warp on correctly all play a part. I have several longer how to videos on my channel where I share tips.
Very wonderful setup, im only 24 and have been embroidering fir a few years, but weaving looks fun! Ill have to look more into this, but i like your channel and its very nice to see your high quality videos, thank-you
I started with crochet and embroidery. Later found weaving.
🥰🥰

Wow very good job I have an idea if youre ever looking for a challenge
Ideas accepted… there are some limitations with weaving.
Love it! Your so talented, I appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge, and tips you've learned. I watch all your videos. Thank you.
Thank you so much!
Cute, Is there a pattern for this one?
Not yet! I will be publishing one in a few weeks in my shop. maverickson.etsy.com/
