This channel covers the build and journey of my 1974 Procharged Mercury Comet with a TKM built Coyote. Here we share a ton of helpful information and grow together. The goal of this channel is to help others be able to build beautiful vehicles at a fraction of the cost of the big guys. Its one of my goals and passions to prove over and over that you can make your vehicle look just as good for half the cost if you're willing to put in the work!
We also cover a lot of daily shop life inside a paint and body shop where we buy/repair/sell totaled salvage title vehicles that we purchase to flip from IAA auctions. I share as much inside information as I can and educate you on all the ins and outs of a body shop/dealership.
Thanks for watching and we hope you subscribe!

Into the good stuff now. Filler smells like money..
Love it!
Too much filler right over paint. Not proper
@@Rick-or2yl okay, expert you must be. As long as the paint is attached well, no cracks or peeling, it will beer fine
Yea I do this day in and day out and honestly don’t care lol
back in 1999 i took a job at a tour bus bodyshop leaving a collision shop paint room what a change it was i thought paint here or paint there whats the difference well everything was different so we had 53 busses 45 foot long some were steel and stainless , some were all aluminum , some were all fiberglass they all got striped to bare substraight around all of the windows all of the busses had a super soft metal im not sure what it was but it corrode so our jobber guy told us about rolling on ppg k36 surface primer and thats what we did and loved it and used this method in the car industry also three or four coats they dry fast build is great and absolutely no clean up or overspray to blame on the painter we did a bus a week me and one other guy it took us 52 weeks to complete
Yea I’ve heard good about the roll on primer just never done it yet so definitely interested in trying
Yeah brother!! Hands down to your tutorial . You can’t do a better job at what you’re doing. Great work,& content.
Thanks buddy
She’s coming along nicely. I’ve learned so much from you. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
It looks like you might have put body filler on a car once or twice lol. It definitely changes the look of the cars body lines! Things are looking great .
lol possibly
One day you will learn patience, not today, but one day. Keep up the good work.
lol how can I not be more patient then I am now? Man I don’t even touch this thing all week and then only work on it some on the weekends. Not rushing anything at all.
Great information for the shade tree diy guy at home!
Thanks
Brother, you are working on a 49 car, play appropriate music. 50' s 60's. Lol. Don't do rap. Peace Brother. Tim
Man I can’t handle 50s 60s music lol that’s to old for me
@@ThePaintPaperHustle I'm an old fsuck. Lol
lol I understand
Have you always pressure washed before priming? I was always taught for it to never get wet until it is primed
yes always every single job. Doesnt matter as long as its dry
@@ThePaintPaperHustle wish I would have known that, I been doing it the hard way lol
I still use the dolphin glaze and upol gold under it. Are you still using the same or have you found anything better?
The body filler I have, makes me the metal man I ain't... Looking good Courtney. And the smoother you put filler on, the easier it sands down. Peace brother
forsure man lol
I just finished watching Bad Chad put six flex tubes on a car for exhaust, so thank goodness this video dropped. Yikes! 🤣
LOL
I can't watch that guy unless I'm drinking.
@NonTypicalRacing 😂
Slinging Mud its your fault I came out of retirement and Blocked two fenders this weekend.! Blowing a quarter panel out my nose again Oh Joy!. Nice work Brother. Love the direction.
LOL thats awesome buddy!
Don't forget to measure front sun visor
i responded to your other comment this weekend. Its around 52"
You should never be putting body filler over that old lacquer paint
It’ll be ok. No way in the world am I stripping this car down to metal
@@ThePaintPaperHustle if the paint is solid, doesn't matter. Keep on !
Looking good !! well explained and well done!!!
Thanks
Cool 😎 ! I can’t wait to see the chassis progress. But yes definitely get the body in Epoxy first it will for sure bring motivation and direction to the project.
Yea man same! My brain is in over time on the body modifications at the moment though
Courtney you make it look so easy but you are a professional man you do such good work
Thanks buddy
Definitely makes sense to ruff in a little at a time. I just watched halfass customs get burned out on sanding body filler 😅👍💪😎
Yea don’t do that lol it’ll be a lot of work if you wait till the end
It looks like she's coming along really well. The motivational speech speaks directly to my own life in relation to my chosen career path. Done that, thanks.
Man that’s awesome glad it spoke to you. I use to listen to hours of them per week
I’ve missed the motivation voice over stuff thanks for bringing it back
You’re welcome!
This thing gonna be so bad a$$ man. Keep up the awesome work
Thanks man we just getting started 😈
Very helpful 🎉🎉🎉
Awesome!
Do you have any parts left from this red maverick?
I have a few odds and ends
Looks great
Thanks
Can you come paint my car?
Unfortunately you’d need to bring it to me
I was going to go with them, but after the community feed back and nightmare stories and bad feedback I had to go to a different direction.
Best of luck to you on your build
Amigo... dont put me outta bussiness
This junk ain’t putting no one out of business 😂
@@ThePaintPaperHustle hahaha yeah... nonI think so tho
something about this instrumental makes me hear Bad Bunny mumbling in the background
😂 that’s horrible
What was the hole size on the flange? I need to swap mine but I think the hole may be too big.
If I didn’t say it in the video then unfortunately I don’t know off the top of my head
@@ThePaintPaperHustle ah gotcha thanks!
You should checkout Fitzee’s Fabrication channel on here. He has some really good videos of cutting out rusted panel parts and welding in new.
I’m actually also subscribed to his channel also. Been checking out a lot of these guys thanks for that info!
Compound turbos on 4BT
Forsure!
Learning a lot from you
Awesome!
I do love this build but I really wanna see the Comet. I wanna see it make some passes even if John drives it. Just curious if you finally got it dialed in !!
Thanks buddy. I haven’t touched it since the last time John drove it. Haven’t even started it or seen it. Keep telling myself weekly that I need to go start it bc I’m sure the methanol is destroying everything.
This build takes balls to start chopping !! Kudos to you !! I could never start hacking a car !!😎
lol it’s just metal buddy. You can always fix it or just scrap it and go find another one
What’s your take on the .023 welding wire? Does it lay out flatter?
Seems to weld better. It’s a hit and miss on laying flatter which is probably operating error. But I do like it
I know where there's a 8.2L Cadillac, but it's too late I guess.
Yea we going with the cummins
Thank you though
Your work ethic is incredible. Way to go brother. Looking incredible
Thanks buddy
Should you spray some type of rustproofing/primer on the areas that you won't be able to get to later?
I guess you absolutely could.
Uncle Mike said this is looking good !
Trying to be like him 💪🏻
Looking bad Ass Courtney.
How do you mask the windshield and rear hatch
Windshield I just face tape it or back tape it if it’s out. Hatch would be same way
Are you using .030" still frame frame welding on the Comet? When I have to buttweld w/o a hem flange n pierced holes to plug, I like .023" wire.
Now using .023” wire. Not sure what you’re asking about comet I think you have a typo
@@ThePaintPaperHustle oh, *from frame welding on the Comet
@ThePaintPaperHustle when you do nice and minimal metalwork like that, it sure would look cool to just grind the welds and jamb gun on (I hate 'em too) some matte clear over the surgery scars n drive it. Cool plate you found! "No filler" would been cool to put on a plate for that particular look.
@@NonTypicalRacing yea I’m just not a metal guy lol actually recording a segment yesterday talking about that for this weeks video. I love paint work
Man idk.... it's yours do what you do...
Thanks
Cool 😎 !
🫡
🎉 THANKS FOR THE CONTENT 👍💪😎💯🙏 BLESS ALL 🎉
Thanks
Enjoy following this build immensely, love the engine choice, love the wheel choice!! It's your car man, you do you and let your vision come to life!!!
Thanks so much!
Wow!! Definitely not for the faint of heart or mind. Take lots of pictures so you can remember how things go back together if you are doing this job by yourself. Thanks for the video!
You’re welcome
Gona look like a truck tire cause thats wat it is, kinda defeats the purpose of wat ur doing here, chopped, lowerd, shortnd, will look fine till u turn the wheel and see them big ass all terrain knobbys, just seems like it takes up more space in wheel well rather than a drag radial wuld,, l built few Hot Rods and gota say dont see the look ur after here
The look I’m after is what no one else has done. I need to do what people think can’t be done bc it won’t look right. I’m chasing a vision that’s in my head. If I’m wrong it’ll be a simple wheel change
You got me wondering now, just seems to be a backwards theory of a alterain truck tire taking up less room than a nontreaded drag radial or even a standard tire of sum sort,, alota times people do have to sacrifice wheels n tires to achieve that nice ride but gota say u got me sratchen my head on this decision, LuV the alterations so far n the car is totally gangster,, tire selection ,🤔🤔
So I’m going for a look over anything. Would like a decent ride but it doesn’t come before the look. And I don’t want a race car look at all
Sorry if you already mensioned it,. Are you going to use a more modern chassi on the build?
We are completely building a custom tube chassis
@@ThePaintPaperHustle great stuff going to put you on the map.🇿🇦
