As late as the mid-'90s the subways weren't air-conditioned. What a crowded, obnoxiously loud, smelly, dirty, ugly, rude place to live. At least in the '70s there were good niteclubs to see live music.

Thanks I am not a German .I worked building high tension cables over the Rhine River in 1971 hard wholesome work .many of them veterans of ww2. They had all been wounded some had been prisoners in Russia. They were invariably jolly. That is the definition of true courage.

I saw cars as new as 1951 so this is 20, 30s, 40sa and 50s. What an advanced society. Everyone peacefully co-existing and well dressed. I like the black chauffeur driving the obviously rich white family around. I wish You Tube wouldn't insert other videos at the end cutting off a lot of the image.
