Well, look what showed up in my KZread video feed! I was just thinking about this very railroad the other day, and so glad these videos are still available! I just love this little railroad, even went so far as to buy the vintage Atlas track planning books this layout was featured in. I found a simpler plan in the Atlas book called the "Unhinged and Horizontal", which is a single track, single level layout designed to fit on a 30" x 80" hollow-core door. I really want to give that layout a try, and see what I can do with it. Might make some modifications to the plan to fit my particular needs. Bless you for putting this on KZread. @GhostRyderFPV Жыл бұрын
I see that plane, and this FPV nerd wants to put 2 cameras inside for passenger views out the windows, and 1 for me, the pilot. It's a disease, sorry 😕 Where you're at, I can't imagine there's too much RF trying to stomp out your Spektrum 2.4, so maybe an antenna orientation issue is what's up? Those polarized antenna work best when they are parallel to each other. Put a donut on the antenna of your transmitter, that's what the RF output looks like, so try to keep that thing in the _locked and upright position for flight._ haha Now over on the plane, shove one of those little bag donuts, (you know the kind with the sealable bag, smaller hole to donut ratio, now I'm hungry) around the end of the receiver antenna, that's the how it likes it's RF fed to it. Carbon and metal taste like crap, keep your donuts away from them. It it's a diversity receiver with two antenna, I like to orient them like I was holding my donuts with a Peace Sign. A single antenna receiver gets a middle finger from me, though, so straight up and down, you can even do the "Can you hear this, let me turn it up" with that finger, that is perpendicular to the center line of the plane. Now look. We're big boys. We like our donuts. But not when flying! You gotta keep 'em in the box dude! So imagine trying to keep the donuts in a giant box, their flat sides always on the same angle, like they were laying flat in the box. It's ok if that flimsy box twists a lil, as long as you never get the dreaded sideways donut! This keeps the best output of the transmitter antenna facing the most sensitive part of the receiver antenna, and prevents crashes from eating donuts while flying. And never, ever, ever ever ever face the holes at each other. Ever. The line straight out the pointy end of your antenna is a dead zone, so treat it like a loaded gun, and only point it at the planes you hate. I'm not the huge-est Spektrum fan in the world (for what I do), but for the area you're flying at, and how close you were, it shouldn't have any issues (for what you do lol). They're solid and reliable for waaaaay out, so I have to guess it's antenna orientation? Way to save it, then grease that landing!!!
@Doggeslife Жыл бұрын
For best range do not aim the antenna on the TX at the plane like a pointer. The signal is weakest in that orientation. The transmitter's radiation signal pattern is a doughnut shape and the monopole antenna of the TX is mounted straight up and down in the case, so the best range comes with the back of the transmitter case facing the receiver (front or sides too). Glad you got down in one piece. Happy flying!
