At this point, I still prefer Lynch's 1984 movie over the current 2021 Dune. Just for creativity alone. But yes. The miniseries gets it the most correct out of all three.

This Dune shows that following the book isn't enough to be a good movie rendition. Costumes and set look cheap, music is not interesting, acting is mediocre. But it is faithful to the book. That is still respectable

Agreed, if only 2021 is a HBO big budget show with the same cast it wouldve been the perfect adaptation. Anyway Denis' movie still did much better than lynch's

this came out in 2000, far before shows pulled in enough money to warrant large budgets. this mini series looked pretty good for TV 23 years ago.

Its more like a theatrical stage play version. If you keep that in mind, instead of expecting a full budget Hollywood movie, it works better. I like it. The books are really difficult to put to screen. Just from how they are structured. Dune is hard to make into a good "movie"

I really liked this version, it told the story much better than the 80s version despite the much smaller budget. The one thing I couldn't forgive was having the Fremen sietches above ground.

this min series is so much better than the new movie! acting and writing was excellent here and in original movie. New one? sucks eggs and you are not given scenes and information that is critical. Acting here is way better than new movie. IF you want to see it wait till second part is made in a couple of years, which is idiotic move and see them together on Imax as it is totally dependent on special effects, not a good movie at all.

@@shavp I think he's being sarcastic -- just the fact alone that the Fremen have laser guns and live near the surface, and that Paul looks like he's mid 20's. The only way to be faithful to the book would be for a 7 hour movie
