Welcome to my small corner of the world!
My name is Kim and I am a homeschooling Mama to three. We focus on secular curriculum and love to be immersed in nature. Though we started our journey out of necessity, we quickly grew to love home education and its community. Our homeschool happily turns 4 this year!

I love all the flip throughs of beautiful feet I think I need to look into them! Thanks for sharing 😊
hi :) curious how this went for you guys? i just got this book in and feel overwhelmed immediately but really love the premise of it
Agreed on loving the premise! The science is solid and excellent. The style wasn’t a win for my kids, unfortunately. I shelved it with intent to retry at a later point. What age are your kids?
Great pics! We have similar taste
Thanks!!! Heading over to your channel now ❤
I love beautiful books! The music appreciation looks wonderful.🤗
@@Sunnyinthesuburbs we have enjoyed them, too! The kids and I are both excited to dig into the music curriculum!❤️
You had so many great curriculum picks!🌼
@@Sunnyinthesuburbs thank you and thank you for being here!☺️
Which music curriculums have worked well in your homeschool?
Add gamenote alphabet plus broad books 1, 2, 3 count on me and abc book for 5.00 each.
I’ll look into these. Thank you for watching!☺️
Is she going to do LOE for kindergarten next year? do you use their handwritten too? I’m looking to start with my son but unsure about the handwriting
Yes, she will start LOE for Kinder. Depending on how her year shakes out, perhaps a slow introduction mid-year. I’ll follow her readiness. I had started to use the handwriting with my son when he began LOE Level A. We quickly scrapped it. His hands weren’t ready yet. You could always cycle back to the hw if your son isn’t ready yet❤ Thank you for being here!☺️
Good One
@@toharpyo Thanks for watching!!😊
The big Berenstain bears Science Book is so fun!! I love doing tons of reading and games in the early years ☺️
@@reclaimingwonder It seems most have really enjoyed the Berenstein book! That makes me even more excited. Thank you for watching!☺️
I love homeschooling for Preschool and Pre-K! What have you found to be most helpful in the early years?❤️
You have some really fun things planned! I really liked doing around the world studies in preK (I built my own around the DK Children Just Like Me book). It's such a fun age 😊
@@EclecticHomeschoolShelf I love that idea! It really is such a fun age. We had done an around the world study when my oldest was in Pre-K….I should consider that again for next year. Thank you! Thank you for watching☺️
So fun! We are taking advantage of the 4th grade national parks pass this year with my middle!
@@schultesweeties I can’t wait to hear about your adventures!
Haha the recorder reminded me. A few years ago I got little flute things thinking I was going to teach the girls. Now I just try to keep them hidden 😂 I also got hand bells about 2 years ago. Those can be equally as annoying haha. But my middle daughter is really good at picking up the tunes for those. And they do piano. But I like piano the best. Good luck mama!
@@schultesweeties You are a brave one!!🤣
Are you guys not using BFSU anymore?
@@MariJ-xc9cs I still have it but the style wasn’t working for my kids. It’s a great program with solid science that I’d love to circle back on.
Ohio homeschooler here too! SE Ohio. We have a few of the same plans. We will be doing that MBTP for government and the Guest Hollow American History.
@@melissamoore280 Hooray fellow Ohioan!❤️ I’d love to hear how MBTP and Guest Hollow work out for you!
@@storybookschoolhouse I’m checking out those “I’m a girl” books. I’ve never heard of them. It’s always a little awkward answering those difficult questions. 🥴
@@melissamoore280 I’ll add a review after I’ve worked through several. 😃
It’s time for a new school year!?! When does your homeschool start back up, again? Are you as excited as me?☺️❤️
This was really helpful! I live in Texas and we technically don’t have to keep any records but as my kids have gotten older, I’ve found myself wishing that I had! This is going to be my first year keeping portfolios.
@@Gameroomschoolhouse So happy it was helpful and thank you for being here! I’ll look forward to seeing your portfolios next year☺️
That’s such a great idea to prep for next school year!!! 😮 it took me so long to do mine and this could definitely speed up the process! Love it! 😍
I wasn’t as proactive the first few years….I was so thankful this year I had prepped myself for success!!❤️
Homeschool record keeping! What is required in your state?
LOE ❤.
'promosm' 😎
Done entered! Hoping to win🤞🙏😇🏆
Best of luck!!!🤞🏻☘️
Nice to meet you in this collab! I agree with the "socialization" comment. Anyone who knows my children, know that they are very social🤣
Love love love this!! Welcome❤️☺️
@@storybookschoolhouse😊❤
Love yours reasons. I love that we can move around frequently as a military family while homeschooling and not have to readjust to new schools.
I love that! My husband and I are Veterans. Thank you for your family’s service❤️
@@storybookschoolhouse that’s awesome. Thank y’all both as well!!
I would love to hear how this is going for you this year? I'm really interested but i'm admittedly nervouse about the implementation.
The content is excellent! Implementation has been a bit tedious….which could also just be my personality though. I have a video coming up discussing this topic. Thank you for being here☺️
Love it!!!! It’s so heartwarming so see siblings help each other!! ❤
It really is❤️❤️❤️
So fun getting to know you better!
Thanks for being here!❤️
I can SOOO relate to the feeling when dropping your kid off at preschool 😭. I’m so thankful my heart was turned to homeschooling!!
Agreed💜
Such good ones!
Thank you❤️
Clear directions but with flexibility.😊
Love it!😊
My son is much more social than I ever have been.
I’m proud of us for raising social butterflies ❤️
I am a second generation homeschooler. I homeschooled my now grown children and am currently homeschooling my grandchild, who I started homeschooling in pre-k. She is currently a 6th grader. I love EVERYTHING about homeschooling. Started my journey in 1995. God bless ❤
What a beautiful legacy! Thank you for sharing❤️
I have never lived far from the ocean either. I definitely had a bit of a fear of being landlocked when I chose my university 😂
I miss sitting by the water at night the most.
My kids are also so social, I have to tell them not to tell strangers our whole life 😂 I would love to have that dropped dirty clothes in the wall as well! So awesome!
Love this! Thank you!!❤️
What do YOU love about homeschooling?❤️
I have slowly come-around to digital planners too (I used to be only paper - but digital can be pretty amazing!). Fun to learn more about you through this collab!
It’s a process…completely agree! Thank you for being here!💜
I can tend to be quiet in large groups but my daughter will talk to anyone -Nickie
These kids are amazing!!🤩
It hurts my heart to be away from the water too. Something about growing up near the beach that stays with you
I couldn’t agree more❤️
I also grew up near the ocean and am now land locked. I miss it too.
It’s a hard thing to explain….it just gets into your soul!❤️
I can't believe I missed this collab. What a fun one!
There’s still time!💗
So fun! We had several answers that matched… and I don’t own a laminator or binder either! 😅
Solidarity 🤣🤣🤣❤️
Welcome!! Did any of our answers match?☺️
MCT is very whimsy. I am doing the town level next year and probably the last third of Beowulf grammar/Guest Hollow’s LA’s. They have great whimsy fun book suggestions in the LA’s guide for each week too.
What great insight for comparison! Thank you! Am I understanding that you did Beowulf first then moving onto MCT?
@@storybookschoolhouseYes, we are doing Beowulf’s Grammar and Guest Hollow’s Language Arts this year. Then I plan on doing MCT town level next year. I picked up used copies of MCT grammar and sentence island to test out the format. The graphic visuals MCT uses in the grammar book are the best at showing the relationship between the different parts of speech imo. But overall I think Beowulf is definitely more hands on and at times more exciting. My kid thought it was the coolest thing ever to make up his own menu during the adjective section of Beowulf. He took it to his karate class to show others.
@@ravenbird3014 That is adorable!! Sounds like you have really instilled a love of learning ❤️
I would love to hear how this is going! I’m interested in trying this curriculum either this year or next!
We have loved the information. I need to get better about bulk prepping though. Prepping each week can become tedious.
That makes sense!
I replied earlier with a resource that I thought could help with your bulk prepping but I see now that my comment was taken down. I meant to be of help. Could you tell me why?@@storybookschoolhouse
Thanks for sharing your honest review! It can be difficult when your going against popular opinion for sure! I’ve always wanted to try MCT, but so far the people I know who have used them, have liked it but for one reason or another discontinue it. In the older levels, some people have found them overwhelming. I’m still very curious about it, but it’s great to hear the pros and cons!
I truly appreciate that! That is great feedback on the more advanced levels. Thank you for being here!❤️
We did Logic of English Foundations and then moved to Beowulf's Grammar. We love Beowulf's Grammar!
That’s reassuring to hear! Thank you!!!❤️
Oh and Michael Clay Thompson strongly suggests kids follow in the student books to help them understand what is going on. I make mine look at the teacher book when I read because I’m cheap lol But of course this style is not everyone’s cup of tea! It’s good to make videos like this so people have a variety of opinions 😊
Kids learn differently…couldn’t agree more! I love your style!
I’ve heard Poodle can be more stories than curriculum. We went right for the Island level which is labeled for a gifted 3-4 grader. I can see why they say that because of the nuance and dry humor. My kids and I love it but they are on the more advanced side.
That’s great feedback! Thank you!!☺️
Have you tried any of the curriculum from Micheal Clay Thompson? Tell me it went better🫣
I have never heard of this, thank you so very much for sharing!
Absolutely! I love finding fun things. Thank you for being here!❤️
