The loot in the Trial Chambers is indeed worth it. We're not talking Nether Fortress level loot like a saddle and a golden horse armor. We're talking about loot like Enchanted Golden Apples, Diamond Blocks, Enchanted Diamond Chestplates, Tridents, Enchanted Diamond Axes, Ender Pearls, Blocks of Emerald, and all sorts of stuff. About you mentioning that Poison is a very annoying effect, Trial Chambers can also have Honey Bottles as loot. Honey Bottles can remove Poison like Milk Buckets, but unlike Milk Buckets, Honey Bottles can stack up to 16, don't remove your positive effects along with the Poison, and replenish your hunger.
