I commend your honesty, talking about our struggles is really hard but I do believe that everyone, you, me, anyone that has or does experience struggles, the more we talk about it, the more understanding comes to the people lucky enough not to struggle every day with mental health issues, in fact all struggles, mental, emotional & physical. It’s fear of the unknown “Other” that means those that consider themselves “normal”, whatever that means, want to not even look at those of us that do struggle, whether it’s with OCD, depression, psychosis, or any of the myriad of problems that we humans have to contend with in our own heads, own lives, own families. The more we talk about it, sing about it, portray it in writing or acting the better, the more understood we are the easier our lives can be, in relation to our interactions with society. I think it all comes down to kindness, showing kindness to others helps everyone. Good luck with your struggles.

Damn 30 min went by quick this time...not saying you shouldn't go i to details and depth. But it will be harder to keep people if they all eneded up this leanght. Just an honest thoight. Luckily Hi Ren is probably the most thought provoking and deeper pieces. The shouldn't be too many that need that much analysis,,,, but there are a few. Ren is a genius!..I liked your review but just a heads up that, especially as Ren is British and you're likely to attract a British contingent, the word 'spaz' is considered offensive over here..it used to be used to describe disabled people as spastic and quickly became derogatory ...ending up as a nasty insult for physical and mental disability...pretty ironic considering your comments about your own struggles...✌🇬🇧

His videos are filmed in Brighton on the south coast of England where he lives. I've been lucky to see him perform on the streets of the city with his band The Big Push. The guy is so talented it's mind-blowing! You should check out his street performance doing a mashup of I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop. It shows his versatility. You definitely won't be disappointed. He can rap, sing, beatbox, plays guitar and piano, produces all his music. In fact his talent is unlimited. He plays all genres, therefore he can entertain everyone whether you're into rap, reggae, ska, punk or metal. Absolute genius. I'm a 57 year old Goth who NEVER got into rap and now there's this local guy that I HAVE to listen to every bloody day 😂. Enjoy the Ren rabbit hole because there's no coming back 😊

Yes, your talk about OCD is like me with anxiety. It's like trying to stop a panic attack. Not only does it fail, but it makes it worse. As Ren said, try to soften instead. And give yourself a bit of grace. We're not built with a steady perspective the way non-humans are. We make mistakes and live with uncertainty. You can't control the ebb and flow of life, so try to just accept the negative when it happens and take the good when it comes. It's an eternal dance. Yes, the instinct to survive, i.e. the need to be hypervigilant, is still within us. The majority of Ren's psychotic episodes were induced by stress and being treated incorrectly for mental illness while he was actually suffering from Lyme Disease. His misdiagnosis lasted for many, many years. It created mental health problems, like PTSD, and allowed the Lyme to progressively ravage his body. He is still under treatment, still quite sick. He just finished over a year of neurological treatment in Canada to try to counteract his brain damage, and also work on his MCAS (cell) issues.

Yes, your talk about OCD is like me with anxiety. It's like trying to stop a panic attack. Not only does it fail, but it makes it worse. As Ren said, try to soften instead. And give yourself a bit of grace. We're not built with a steady perspective the way non-humans are. We make mistakes and live with uncertainty. You can't control the ebb and flow of life, so try to just accept the negative when it happens and take the good when it comes. It's an eternal dance. Yes, the instinct to survive, i.e. the need to be hypervigilant, is still within us. The majority of Ren's psychotic episodes were induced by stress and being treated incorrectly for mental illness while he was actually suffering from Lyme Disease. His misdiagnosis lasted for many, many years. It created mental health problems, like PTSD, and allowed the Lyme to progressively ravage his body. He is still under treatment, still quite sick. He just finished over a year of neurological treatment in Canada to try to counteract his brain damage, and also work on his MCAS (cell) issues.
Oh it has been so long since I watched someone discover Hi Ren. Still as impactful as the first time I watched it. Welcome to Ren. You will never be quite the same 😊
