Hi Eric, I have been listening to your ‘secret to success’ since I was in university and now im at my 30. My goal was to graduate with good grades, go to USA, get a good job once I travel back to my country, buy a car with my own earnings… now at my 30, I achieved all my goals. All because of your speech. I never give up during my downs because I kept remember and repeat your speech in my head. So today I would like to thank you that you brought this speech to the world, to social media. And I thank myself that I found you and that I never give up. Now I will continue to chase for my future goals.

16:00-16:15 This has become an extremely popular misconception of Millenials, but the bottom line is that this is Mostly untrue, and the Statistics Prove it (see below). Eric Thomas clearly doesn't see it that way though, becuase In another speech, for example, he confirmed this sentiment, arguing "This Generation wants more than any Generation has ever wanted, yet is willing to work less than any Generation has ever worked!". What Eric Thomas doesn't understand is that Millinnials actually have LESS than any American Generation has had in living Memory, the EXACT OPPOSITE of What Eric Thomas has been claiming over the course of several Years. Thomas Frank, the Author of "What's the Matter with Kansas", puts it Perfectly in his (other) book "Listen Liberal" : "people who are 25 Today are Doing WORSE than people of that Age ten Years ago, and MUCH WORSE than people who were 25 back in 1996" [see the "Wealth and Generations" article in the June/July 2015 Publication of "Washington Monthly", written by Philip Longman]. Millenials may possess technological advantages like "Cell Phone, Wi-Fi", but by pretty much Any other Metric, Millennials are Worse off than the Generation of Eric Thomas was. Wages are Lower, Opportunites are Fewer, inflation is Worse than it has been in Four Decades, a College Degree is Worth Less than it has ever been Worth. In Colorado alone, 1 in 8 Children go to Bed Hungry multiple Times every Single Week. But hey, at Least those Kids can Play on their Cell Phones while they are sucking on Ice Cubes to Numb the Pain of Hunger. Looks like a "Soft" Generation to me. Fuck you.

Think he was just referring to kids being kids wanting everything handed to them, which was true. Kids in any generation: middle - highschool are spoiled. That was his point. He wasn't trying to single out one generation being more spoiled than others. This is a motivational speech not a history lesson

I shared this video with a couple of my classes at the community college; it seemed that the students in my classes chose to feel offended instead of thankful. Honesty does not seem to work with many young people today; they only want empathy and nothing else.

9:25-9:50 I have always liked this Story, and definetely agree with the essence behind the Story, but I always laugh when I hear it, because it isn't true. Emmitt Smith was notorious for skipping practices...there is No way he was back in the Gym the day after winning the Super Bowl. I do sometimes Wonder just how good Emmitt would have become if he had truly given it everything he had. We will Never know.
