Thanks for the suggestions. I believe there are lot of variables and it would be hard to test precisely in my, uncontrolled environment. The blade design looks almost identical so I doubt it.

01:17 - You let the fans spinning with your vacuum. Rotating fans can induce a voltage onte the PCB of your NAS, which can harm the electronic parts. Don't let the fans circle while connected, just disconnect them before vacuuming or block them e.g. with your screwdriver during dust sucking.

I have a Synology DS216se Serial 1790NDN096701 DSM Version 6.1.3-15152 and after replacing my failed PC, I now realize the computer people who set up my NAS didn't give me the username or password. I can access the Login Portal and after watching your video I have one question. Will my data remain untouched, once I gain access using your reset instructions ?

Great video. Took 20 minutes. Only comment is getting the case off was not possible with just my bare fingers. Had to use a flat head screw driver to move the metal bar over the plastic catches. Fortunately nothing broke. Other than that it was easy. Also consider running a memory test on your new memory using the Synology Assistant. Be prepared for the test to run for a long time - it's been going for hours on 8GB on my DS416, and it's not finished yet!

Thanks Juraj. Interesting to hear that Fusion Drive can not be made with the SATA SSD, this is a deal breaker as the internal NV2 is only 120GB. What about the temperature sensor on the 27 inch 2019 model? It is needed for the 2017 model year.

so you can just leave the "nvme" in there and just replace the spinner with a 2.5" sata ssd and that's it? no issues? i've heard you HAVE to remove the "blade nvme" or there can be conflicts. obviously, whether or not i plan to use the "blade" or not and just install MacOS on the new ssd - i'd prefer not to have to further disassemble to remove the blade.
