The sound recording is just brilliant, nice steady framing, just great, thanks for the upload. BTW loved the vid about all the 37's in France, super interesting stuff.

Nice. Shame station pilots are pretty much non-existant these days with all the multiple units.

A warm summers day, the rumble and whistle of heavy diesel engines, the quiet power of the 08 sitting ready for work, a real railway. Excellent memories thanks for posting! What have we got now, a railway designed by Management committees, accountants and other wee boring people with no lives.

Thanks to the helpful community at scot-rail. co. uk it appears to be 47706, the only un-named 47/7 in that year. According to forums. uktrainsim. com, 47706 was scrapped in August 1995 less than 6 years after this was shot.

Excellent stuff any idea which 47/7 it was? Is it still around or scrap? Thanks for using a tripod too!

That's what 248 sounds like when it's doing its best approximation of work - like the illegitimate product of a drunken liaison between a ped and a thumper! Fine souvenir of a top tour - thanks!
