    Hey Ben, Thanks for your advice! I have a question. My carry-on fits Turkish Airlines' size rules, but it's a bit overweight by about 1kg. what might happen?

  • @BenDreamVacations
    @BenDreamVacations19 сағат бұрын

    In most cases if the weight is close or just a little bit over they will let it go through without issue. It really depends on the airline. If they are really strict about weight then they will charge an overweight fee. If you can wear some of the heaviest items of clothing that you have packed that will help reduce the weight.

    There is no limit to the amount of liquids you can carry in your checked luggage but you want to be careful about the weight of luggage. Anything over 50lbs will cost you $100 per bag and anything over 70lbs $125 per bag.

    Before boarding will the employees let each passenger size their cabin luggage to make sure it's within the size parameters on their website?

  • @BenDreamVacations
    @BenDreamVacations2 күн бұрын

    There will be baggage sizers near the check-in counters. They are just metal frames that are in the dimensions of cabin luggage. If your luggage can fit in the metal frame then your luggage meets the size requirements for the airline you will be flying on. If you find that your luggage is just slightly bigger than the frame then you will still be ok to take in on the plane with you. The airline is not going to check every single passenger to make sure the luggage meets the size requirements.

    If you have TSA precheck, you need to do less. Please clarify.

  • @BenDreamVacations
    @BenDreamVacations2 күн бұрын

    If you have TSA precheck then you will not be required to take anything out of your bag or remove your shoes. You will also just go through a simple metal detector rather than the body scanner. This makes the process much quicker. I can typically get through security in about 5 minutes. I think the most I ever had to wait is 10 minutes at the Atlanta airport.

    I’m flying from my home country Germany,Berlin to London Now my question is since I‘m underage do I need to get the consent papers from my parents notarised/certified? Or is providing copies of documents with the consent papers of my parents proof enough?

  • @BenDreamVacations
    @BenDreamVacations2 күн бұрын

    Yes, you will need to get your parents consent letters notarized. You will also need to check the requirements for the airline you will be flying on. Depending on your age you may need to fly as an unaccompanied minor. Once you arrive in London you will need to provide details about where you are staying and that you have funds to support yourself while in London.

    wow interesting info! Thx for sharing! I'm flying to Rio from Berlin next month and one stopover is in Amsterdam and the other in the US. I know we need a visa to visit it, but if I had it, would it be ok to leave the airport for a quick walk around? thanks a lot

  • @BenDreamVacations
    @BenDreamVacations2 күн бұрын

    I would say you need to account for at least 3 hours to go through immigration and customs to exit the airport and then go back through security and then the travel time to get to the city center and back. A 5 hour minimum layover would be what you need to leave the airport and get back in time to make your next flight. Just don't forget to get the necessary visa as well.

    Tip +1: Withdraw from the reputable bank ATM, from the bank office, during the bank working hours. This way, if your card is eaten by the machine, you can raise the complaint immediately (and hopefully solve your problem) in the bank office. Tip +2: Avoid withdrawing money after bank working hours (specially after Friday 5PM) and/or before your departure from the place. If your card is eaten, you will not be able to visit the bank in person and solve the problem, but will instead have to struggle with filling web forms.

    If you are not checking a bag then make sure to check-in online. This will save you a lot of time at the airport because you will already have your boarding pass and you can go straight to the security lines when you arrive at the airport. If you are checking a bag then make sure you get to the airport early. Make sure you sign up to receive text messages from the airline as this will keep you up to date for any changes that may occur with your flights. If you are nervous about flying, then bring things with you to help keep you distracted like music, books, magazines, tablet etc. Enjoy your first flight!
