I'd just like to say, I'm stoked for a third Disneyland park and a 5th Disney World park, both of which have been finally approved.

I've been saying that the new parking structure as part of Disneyland Forward would be a perfect time to bring back the Peoplemover. Remove the east ticket gates for the station and obviously you have cast members manning the stations to help with wheelchair guests. A constantly moving track to bring guests to the esplanade area would be the most efficient thing they could do for the structure. They could even make it a true hub, kinda similar to the transportation hub at WDW, by adding 2 tracks that would go directly inside the parks from the hub. It would require a couple extra cast members to check tickets at the hub, but it would also alleviate crowds at the main gates. The DL track would join up with the old Peoplemover track possibly by following underneath/beside it to get back to Tomorrowland. DCA might be a bit trickier, but maybe they could get rid of Redwood Creek and make that the station. It wouldn't be very long, but it'd have the added benefit of putting guests close to the Grand Californian for those coming to restaurants like Napa Rose. Maybe even create a system for those with reservations to be able to use that section without needing a park ticket. Or just bring back the Peoplemover with the same ride system as Magic Kingdom.

As a kid in 1977 those people movers were pretty boring and forgettable. It's probably why they scrapped it.

I got to go to Nickelodeon Studios some time in the late 90s/early 2000s, as a little kid I had no idea that the writing was already on the wall, it was just the coolest thing to see all my favorite cartoon characters and see where they filmed All That and stuff. I really wish they had kept it around as a museum, but that's hindsight talking.

Main reason why Dillards closed back in 2003 it was because an off-duty police officer was working as a security guard at that store and apparently he found a guy shoplifting from the store and what he did was he tackled him into the ground to handcuff him and accidentally slammed his head on the concrete floor Which ended up killing him several days later and the store ended up closing shoplifters ended up suing Dillards in the store mainly closed because of the lawsuit

Rebuilding, not only PeopleMover but all of Tomorrowland, would drive massive new attendance and capacity for years to come. How does a company as progressive as Disney not get this concept.

I remember going to the Horizons in 1983 with my husband. I loved it and remember the painting from my memory of being there. Just hope that they did not paint over it and put something over it for later use. Dealing with different companies who sponsors a project just can make it almost impossible to bring alive. It has always been the trouble with Disney's vision to the Corporate World in DSNYLND...

My dad was a civil engineer specializing in aquaculture projects (aquariums, hatcheries, fish ladders, prawn farms). Disney had hired him and his team to work on this project (and others) for the parks.

I rode the People Mover with Grandma in 1986. I remember when it went through Space Mountain she got a little nervous and I had to reassure her that we weren't going on the coaster. But we both enjoyed riding this & seeing the park from up high.

what a profoundly depressing exploration of the grim state of tomorrowland specifically and disneyland in general. none of the things they've added ad updated in over 20 years has been as charming or better than all the stuff i had as a kid. i'd trade all of california adventures and star wars land for the people mover and the gondola skyway. and give me back my fucking star tours ride, the good rocket jets, the boats and america sings.

A few years before the People Mover at Disney World shut down, I went on it with a couple of friends. During our ride, we traveled over some sort of construction project. The fumes from the site wafted across our car. After a few seconds of coughing, one of my friends said, "It's nice to know that they still use tar in the future".

As someone who’s only been to Disney World, Disneyland sounds like such a hot mess sometimes. They really just throw anything at the wall to see what sticks, huh? At least the Disney World attraction is still intact. The Peoplemover is such an important part of Disney history that it deserves to be preserved, not…*vague hand gesture* whatever that was.

I remember some journalist trying to make a documentary about DSM around 2005 or so. He was saying a LOT of stuff about Harvey city government and all the federal funds for urban developnent and renewal of the site that just disappeared. And then the website and all mention of the film just disappeared.

I was told by a freind of my brother that back in the what 60's when they built this atraction, all the steel came from central Missouri out of Jefferson city ,a steel plant. That was her family's plant .and she got to ride out to California with the lron. Back then . Seing this vedio was sad of all the work that went into it, and the cost.

Well, to be fair, when you were at "this mall", it might not have been 100% Red Lobster's fault that the food was terrible, most things are terrible in the town that "this mall" is in. But also, it's not "literally the only restaurant in town".. there's a Chili's, Leon's Catfish (which is fantastic), Charro's, which is a great Mexican place, the Red Oak Steakhouse at the casino which is literally right across the highway from the mall and they're crazy good and award-winning....

I stayed at the Hilton portion for a work meeting once. It was incredibly meh compared to other hotels on the strip, though to be fair, I didn't get a chance to explore anything beyond that section. I was really disappointed because we were kind of stuck there most of the time. It was too far away from other hotels to allow for good walking as well.

It was a huge misstep to get rid of the original people move a ride. They should’ve kept it as is and maintained it. It was very shortsighted for them to get rid of it just because attendance seemed down.
