  When I think of God Bless America, I think of Kate Smith, and the American Anthem and Yankee Doodle Dandy…..and Over here over there, Stars and Strips for ever, the Battle hymn of the Republic all these songs represent the United States, Samuel Wilson known as Uncle Sam in this election our freedom is on the line…..do many of us want Hate, Tierney or do you like myself want Democracy and Freedom! Our freedom is on the line here? That’s just my opinion.

  What sad news! Joe was one of my favorite musicians of the Denver Brass. I attended many of the concerts over many years. I also had the privilege of singing with the Colorado Chorale when we did a Christmas Concert one year. I was beyond thrilled. He has so much style and wonderful phrasing in his playing.

  From the comments here it’s clear that many of us crave the outward celebration of our country. Singing together in appreciation is very powerful. We need to do it more often. This is why I wish those singing the Star Spangled Banner at events would first ask the crowd to stand and join in - and sing it the way it’s written - rather than doing a “performance” of showing how fancy and how high you can sing, when that really doesn’t matter.
