It sucks to have english as a 2nd language, being an introvert, lacking social skills. Im curious about when they made you take the drug test. I recently got an email saying that I received a passing score on the aptitude test and that I will receive an interview date some time in the near future. I heard after the interview they give a drug test. Also whether the drug test was hair for you or pee. I smoke weed and have smoked weed for years and have only been drug tested once when I was an Amazon driver. (Passed that test with synthetic urine) Im confident Ill pass the interview because I have passed every interview Ive taken. My interview at frys electronics was in front of 4 department managers who questioned me simultaneously. It was nerve-wracking but they liked me and hired me the next week. Im willing to quit but I would like to know exactly when I should expect the drug test so I can prepare myself.

  • @JermiahJones
    @JermiahJones Жыл бұрын

    You are correct about it being after the interview, so if you get in they’ll send you to do one. It’s nothing extensive it should just be the basic pee in a cup type thing - so just be ready for that. I’ve never heard of them doing anything more, so unless your local is just way different, you should be good. Good luck too you!

  • @julie-annpeeples687
    @julie-annpeeples687 Жыл бұрын

    In our apprenticeship, you are drug tested randomly and on a regular basis (your contractor and the job site also drug tests). Even if weed is legal in your jurisdiction, it is still not approved Federally. Even if you have a prescription, its a no go. There is a no tolerance policy on job sites because of the on the job dangers that are present. If you can't stay away from the weed, I recommend a different career. Expect to be drug tested regularly.

    What would be a good response to the question: What knowledge do you have to what an electrical worker does on the job?

  • @JermiahJones
    @JermiahJones Жыл бұрын

    That depends on what knowledge you do have. For me I didn’t have any so I went with something along the lines of “ I don’t have any at the moment, but I’m eager to learn about the industry” - they like to hear that someone is ready learn and ready to go to work - good luck to ya!

  • @CaseNumber00
    @CaseNumber00 Жыл бұрын

    @@JermiahJones At an interview for IBEW I did respond similar to that but when I was done I noticed in their faces they didnt like that response at all. I live in SoCal and its highly competitive to get into the IBEW apprenticeship so they seem to be focusing on admitting people who already have knowledge and work experience under their belt. Might work in other regions of US but not SoCal.

  • @JermiahJones
    @JermiahJones Жыл бұрын

    @@CaseNumber00 hmm yeah that’s understandable since it is a highly competitive area. But I would imagine they would be keen on hiring a few with no experience - this is because it allows them to kind of mold someone into what they think is a good electrician. I hope you hear back brother!
